Are any new grads finding jobs??

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hi, I hate to dwell on the negative here, but it seems like there are alot of massachusetts new grads not finding jobs. Is anyone finding jobs, if so what are your techniques.

:jester:

Hey, I did my clinicals at BMC this past year. We both took courses with CCCOnline. I didn't realize that you lived so close. How much longer for school?

I start my second year of the ADN tomorrow and finish in May 2007. I am also concurrently enrolled at U of Wyoming doing the online RN-BSN and am hoping to have that done by May 2008 (or sooner).

Call up the people you met at BMC and see what is up. I love working there and am hoping to get hired as an RN when I graduate. If you are interested in the FLoat Pool, they have a new grad training program for that and i can give you the names of the managers. PM me if you are interested.

Hi fotografe. I was just wondering, are they hiring at BMC??? Unfortunately I'm not a CNA there, i was at Mount Auburn Hospital. But even i didn't get a job there most likely because i left after i graduated to have more time to study for the boards. Thanks!

For CNAs Yes. For RNs with at least a year experience, yes. New Grads, I don't know. I have not seen any new grads on the floors but plenty of new (to BMC) nurses. Contact the units directly to see if they are looking for new grads. But as I pointed out, it is the unit clerks and CNAs that get first dibs. I don't even know if it is legal for you to work as a CNA while waiting for a new grad position, but you might ask. I think most hospitals hire the new grads once or twice a year and if you have to wait anyway, might as well give yourself a leg up.

By golly I hope it's legal because I am working as an aide while waiting for a new grad position. I'm beggining to think it won't work for much longer though:(

Thanks for the info fotografe. I'm not sure if I can work as a CNA with an RN license...but i almost thought about that...not sure. I'll keep trying though.

I think ill apply as an aide at BMC...wouldn't hurt to try i suppose. Thanks for giving me hope! hehehe :)

Lena, I believe working as a cna with a rn license does jeopardize your rn.

You would be better off taking a position at a long term care facility as a RN than doing the cna thing, now that you have your license. I know Kindred is definately hiring new grads.

Oh really? Hmmm ok. I'll keep looking then. Thanks. :)

I hope you have a great year! Which clinicals are you doing? Evening, days or weekends? I did evenings as it worked best with my work schedule.

I am still working LTC and Agency for now. I had put an app in for float but haven't heard anything.

I am interested in a RN-BSN program. I was going to look into UMASS. What made you decide to pursue yours with U of Wyoming?

thanks for thinking of us new grads who are eager to get started. I have yet to be called for an interview... I passed the boards and I've applied everywhere! I started applying to nursing homes rehabs etc, hopefully I'll have better luck in that area. I feel like I spend all day, looking, faxing, applying, calling, emailing...I wish I could find the folks who told me that I'll be able to find a job in a flash...I have a few not so kind words for them :blushkiss keep us in your thoughts !

Hi oualie20 and congrats on passing the boards. yeah im still looking for a job too. There is an open house this wednesday at south shore hospital so ill check it out...maybe ill get something. good luck to you too! hopefully we both find something!

I am doing the Rn-BSN at Wyoming becasue of the cost and the fact I could start after my first year of the ADN program. I will finish my BSN about 6 months after getting my RN. I heard a lot of positive feedback about the classes too. So far, so good.

Hi LenaRn

good luck to you on the job search. I saw that job fair and I was planning on attending. Have you looked at the Career Advice forum...there is some good advice there...hey keep us updated on your progress...it helps me get through the days knowing that i'm not the only one going through this.
