The only ones that I know that are union are Centerpoint (Independence), Lee's Summit Medical Center (Lee's Summit). I think North Kansas City MAY be union, I'm not sure.
Centerpoint and LSMC are HCA though.

That is really interesting to me about Centerpoint considering the reputation it has regarding nurse to patient ratio, the amount of orientation of lack there of and how you hear so much about safety being a concern there.
I don't have an opinion either way I am just trying to get ready as I should be able to start applying as soon as new grad positions open for Dec graduates. Woohoo.
Thanks for the info.

NKC is NOT union...I worked on 8Pav and SNU and there were not one iota of mention of unions. I do not reccomend working at Centerpoint... unless you choose to work in ER. My sis-in-law works there and is having many problems with management and she's not the only one. Centerpoint is a brand new hospital and still working out many many bugs. I hear they have some issues with the mgmt saying our way or the hwy. Safety is a huge concern there.
I liked NKC pay isnt the best but if you work outside of snu or 8 pav its a great hospital.

I know KU MED has a union. Others that I have "heard" have a union are many of the HCA hospitals such as Overland Park Regional and Menorah. Someone mentioned Olathe Medical Center as well but....I honestly have no idea on that one.

I gave you incorrect info a year ago about this. Sorry! LOL
I did my Capstone at Centerpoint and they are NOT union! I had the pleasure of doing my Capstone there while they were trying to decide if they wanted to be union or not, and the decision was NOT to be union, so they are not.
As far as working there, I'm not there, but a few of my classmates are. And some are not happy. On nights, one has up to 7 patients on a Med-Oncology floor. And up to 5 patients on a Tele floor.
I'm not working for any HCA facility and I'm ok with that.
