Are there any fast-track nursing schools for undergrad students?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I do not have a bachelor's degree. I am strictly an undergrad student. I am interested in doing a fast-track nursing program. The only fast-track nursing programs that I can find are for people who already have a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing related major. Are there any fast-track nursing schools (i.e. nursing schools that you can complete in 12-18 months) for undergraduate students who do not have a bachelor's degree or rn license?

I don't believe you will find any programs like that unless you have a previous bachelors. Nursing is not easy. It's not something that should be rushed through. In addition to your nursing classes and clincals, you will also need important pre requisite classes like English, Algebra, Chemistry, Psychology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology. The you need your nursing courses: fundamentals, pharmacology, med-surg, pediatrics, OB, psych and public health, including a clinical for each. Most programs also include a practicum component during the final semester and you will also have several other general classes to complete.

These classes require a lot of work and studying. There is no way that you could take all of those classes in 12-18 months. The accelerated tracks are offered to people who have already completed pre-requisite courses. If you want a fast-track option, go to a two year ADN program.

I'll reiterate, nursing school is difficult. It should not be taken lightly and it should not have a fast-track option.

Thanks! I have completed most of my prerequisite courses at community college, except for anatomy and physiology and microbiology. Would that accelerate me to a fast-track program? How hard is nursing school for the student who is not gifted at math and science (average or below average at math and science)?
