I am in the process of interviewing for jobs in Maryland, and although I'm getting lots of offers I had one recruiter tell me that there is NO nursing shortage in the State of Maryland. I haven't heard of other new grads having trouble getting their first choice for jobs in MD, so that seems to contradict what he said, but whatever ....hope this is helpful!

There was a person I was talking to the other day, she said "there are no nursing shortages until they need you, then there is one." Keep a positive attitude, keep looking and be a little open minded. Good Luck.

In answer to your question--yes!
I had three job offers in Baltimore hospitals before I graduated. I had just started interviewing. I had other interviews lined up that I cancelled because I'd already accepted a job. There are plenty of jobs here. I don't know of anyone from my graduating class who hasn't gotten a job yet.

There is most certainly a shortage, when they are looking in schools for them and offering bonuses to new grads...well, I think there might be a supply and demand issue
