Are you almost there? Number of classes left?

:clown: Hello to all future nurses,

I feel like I have been taking classes forever, and finally I am getting closer to my dream of becoming a nurse. Biology is my final prerequisite left to get in the program, and I am taking it this summer. I am aiming to start the N Program in Jan 09,

I am almost there. :nurse::lol2:

Specializes in Wannabe NICU Nurse.
I have taken all of my pre reqs except Dosage Calculations. I wanted to take it this smester, but it filled up 2 hours after registration opened. There are only 2 classes for everybody who wants to be a nurse in Dallas County so they fill up super quick. I didn't need it to apply, and so I applied last month, and hope to get in and start in the fall.

I think only the Brookhaven program requires that for a pre-req. That's why there is only two.

This is my last semester of pre-reqs, I hope to start nursing school in the fall. I have Micro, A&P II and Dev. Psychology currently and doing very well, just ready for it to be over with! :p I'm excited to hopefully be moving forward to my nursing classes.

Microbiology and Intermediate Algebra in the fall. I can apply in the spring, but have to wait for acceptance for fall 2009 at the earliest. Sigh. I can always start on BSN prereqs while waiting.

Specializes in None.

I have Microbiology left, which I am taking this summer, and FINISHED!!! Thank GOD, pre-reqs take forever!! I have already been accepted into the nursing program as a part time student, and already took a few Nursing courses this past Fall and current Spring semesters. So next semester I will take alot of the edge off and wont be as stressed as the other students who will have it all at once!!

OMG, I still have 5 prereqs left. A&P 1 & 2, sociology, human lifespan develpment, and micro. Hopefully I'll get in for Fall 2009.

Okay so I had to start with high school stuff, math 02, (dev), then algerbra, chem and bio. So I was 4 classes behind from the start.....now all I have left is A&P 1 and 11. Thank God! I thought I would never get all these classes done. :yeah:

Specializes in Intensive medical care.

I'm taking my last two pre-reqs A&PII and Micro now, then I have the summer off and I was guaranteed my seat for Fall 08. I am SUPER excited, nervous but so ready to go. Good luck fellow future nurses, maybe we'll work together somewhere. :yeah:

Specializes in Treating burns, and gun shot wounds.

Im so far behind, but im still holding on to this dream on becoming an RN. You guys are going to laugh but i am taking prequisites for my pre reqs towards nursing. i have about 14 more classes to go, and being in the military, im limited to 2 classes per semster. Good thing i only have 1 year and a half left in service. By the time im done, i would only have 6 more classes to go. When that time comes, ill be taking all 6 classes all at once! BYAHH!

Hopefully i can get accepted in a nursing program ASAP. But i doubt thats going to happen since i live in CA. the estimated wait is some what around 2 years. hopefully that will change by the time im done. And for anyone who lives in the sacramento area, UC davis is now going to be opening a nursing program soon. So stay tuned!

Keep up the good fight. It doesn't matter what you have left, it just matters that you do it. You'll be there sooner than you know it. :nurse:

E,

I am on the longer path as well. I have 5 little ones at home under the age of 9 (no twins) and I just started back to school. I decided that I should only take 1 class (yikes!) a quarter. I decided to just do one a quarter because my DH has to work full time and I don't know how I could study with 3 little ones at home during the day.. I question my decision almost daily because it is so hard to wait when it's my life long dream to be an RN.

I just worry that if I took 10 - 11 credits a quarter my grades might not be A's and then I've shot myself in the foot. My CC only accepts students once a year and YOU MUST be finished with ALL pre reqs before you even apply. At this rate I will be able to apply for Fall of 2010. So there's no incentive for me to double up classes and then just wait. Either way, I'm nervous about getting straight A's in the sciences...even with taking one at a time..

But, I think it's great that you are following your dream. I wish you good luck!:D and wanted you to know there are others (like me!) who have to do the less conventional route to fufilling our dreams to becoming a :nurse:

I have 5 kids as well. 4 under 6. My oldest died 3 years ago, but would be 14. She would be a huge help. I found that the longer I went the more I realised I could still handle and get the A's I needed. You may find that as well. I think that the longer I have gone, the better I have been able to study... meaning, I have improved how to study. Once you find a niche you might feel better taking 2 or 3 classes.

Good luck!

Specializes in ER/Ortho.

I only have one class left (Dosage Calc) which I will take while in the program which I start in the Fall.

I took all the easy classes 12 credit hours at a time (English, speech, psych, developmental psych etc), and the harder science classes just two at a time.

I have

API .. taking this summer [then can apply for fall 09 son]

AP II.. fall

Microbiol.. spring

Eng Comp II.. fall/spring?

Fine arts electiv .. fall/spring?

Precalc alg .. fall

THATS IT!!

To be full time I'm going to take my BSN classes.

After I finish ADN and NClex I want to bridge over.. Master's programs.

I'm currently obsessed with neonatal np.
