Aptitude test and intervew questions????

at the end of this month i have an interview for my dream job :yeah: a 6 month internship for a level 2 truama center.

when i spoke with the coordinator who scheduled my interview she said that i would first be taking an aptitude test which is not a pass/fail but to see where i am at clinically, then after the test would be the panal interview. but i am thinking the test could be a tie breaker for applicants

i want to be as prepared as possible, because i desperatly want this job, so i was planning on reviewing acls and pals, what else should i be reviewing, i was thinking critical lab values and looking over one of my nclex study guides

i have from using this wonderful site complied a list of questions to ask during the interview

can you tell me about the staff and support staff, do you utilize lpn’s, are there er techs, paramedics?

how does communication take place in the er, do nurses carry phones or pagers, what about the providers? scribes, put in orders

charting, emr, paper

how is performance evaluated and how often?

how many preceptors will i work with during the internship

number of nurses employed during a shift, type of leadership, professional development opportunities

educational opportunites - cen, tncc

the avg pt census per 24hrs or per shift.

patient ratio, is it set or change

how many patients in a day do u see?

what changes are in the future with xyz hospital becoming abc hospital ?

is there anything else i could be doing to become better prepared?

those have sat in on panal interviews what do you look for in an applicant?

Wow, you're definitely on the right track! Just be sure that you'll go through with your plans (reviews and stuff)! Most of the interviews I had before asked regarding clinical experiences, so just be ready to remember some stuff you did before. It may be situation type questions, or letting you tell them about an experience, or even just plain clinical questions for them to gauge what you know.

And some people forget the basic stuffs: pens and professional attire. I remember an interviewer thanking me for dressing well, because some of their interviewees dress too casually. And always smile (like a madman )

The nurse manager I interviewed with thanked me for dressing up and taking the interview seriously. He said that he has literally sent people back home to change, and then come back and interview. Talk about sealing your fate!

Good grief, could you imagine how it would feel to make the walk of shame back into the unit you were just escorted out of? I am an over dresser for interviews, but I am not sure I could return if they sent me home to change.
