April VB: No more visas for 2009

philippine nurses: abandon all hope for the usa: cut-off has crashed back to march 01, 2003

complete unavailability coming. the retrogression has risen to 6 years and will get worse.

the april 2009 vb is the final nail in the coffin. all those in the usa doing adjustment of status are eating up all the visas with no more left for those on consular processing in the philippines:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4438.html

e. retrogresson of the worldwide, mexico, and philippines employment third preference cut-off dates for april despite the established cut-off date having been held for the past five months in an effort to keep demand within the average monthly usage targets, the amount of demand being received from citizenship and immigration services (cis) offices for adjustment of status cases remains extremely high. therefore, it has been necessary to retrogress the april cut-off dates in an attempt to hold demand within the fy-2009 annual limit. since over 60 percent of the worldwide and philippines employment third preference cis demand received this year has been for applicants with priority dates prior to january 1, 2004, the cut-off date has been retrogressed to 01mar03 to help ensure that the amount of future demand is significantly reduced. as indicated in the last sentence of item a, paragraph 1, of this bulletin, this cut-off date will be applied immediately. it should also be noted that further retrogression or "unavailability" at any time cannot be ruled out.

to philippine nurses: quit going to nursing school, there is no more hope left for you all. jobless rns are flooding the philippines and making the economy worse.

I am sorry for all of you waiting your turn, hopefully the US economy will get better and visas will open up. Now time to move on to Plan B.

no one is to blame. that's just the way things are. maybe the consuls at the philippine embassy should check all people applying for a tourist visa for an rn license online from prc. those applying for a tourist visa with an rn license at prc are very likely to use the loophole to do adjustment of status in the usa, and in the process they make their lives miserable by constantly fretting about when the vb will become current. better to stay in the pi and be with your own people. also, its being fair to those who are patiently waiting in line by cp. but who says life is fair, some people always do a crab mentality act and try to gain an advantage over others. that's survival for you.

life is funny. :chuckle

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You can not AOS at the moment so not sure why they say that. EB3 has to be current to AOS which is where most nurses come under however Please remember that this doesn't just include nurses but other professions as well and they may be using figures of AOS for EB1 and 2 which for some countries are current.

I am sorry this is happening but the US has to look after their own citizens first. I do however think this is not a time to appear to glee at this movement

This also involved the rest of the world as this too has been moved back to 2003 so not fair to mention just Mexico and Philippines as it affects a lot more countries

People should have been working on Plan B to begin with.

To Philippine nurses: Quit going to Nursing school, there is no more hope left for you all. Jobless RNs are flooding the Philippines and making the economy worse.

What kind of goofball statement is this?

Philippines work abroad, not only in the USA, It is their culture to go abroad and work and send money back home

My wife best friend just passed her NLE in PI, and just got a job as Med Rep in PI making a healthy salary of 20,000 peso per month.

Some Filipino's RN's become flight attendents with PAL (Philippines Airlines).

On a personal note, Just had 2 co worker get back from PI last week, one is petitioning a student nurse to USA and should be here in a few months.

My understanding the students in the Philippines are lured into going to school for the American Dream. Other countries such as UK and Canada do not have the demand. It leaves only the mid east as the place for the half million unemployed nurses.

Yes there are lots of jobs available, med reps, call centers, etc. but some of these nurses do want to work as a nurse,

why do you single out philippines or filipino nurses? what's your problem?:smokin:

not all are dying to go to us you know. chill out!

You are right about that McGyver!

Why do you single out Philippines or Filipino Nurses? what's your problem?:smokin:

Maybe because Filipino nurses consumed almost a half of 50,000 Schedule "A" visas in 2004-2006, and some of them began to believe that they are something special

:pntrghi:A bill has been filed in the U.S. Congress seeking to create a special non-immigrant visa category for filipino nurses and other foreign registered nurses. :pntlft:

Not all are dying to go to US you know. Chill out!

Sure not, maybe only 0.5-1 million of them.

Maybe the Consuls at the Philippine Embassy should check all people applying for a tourist visa for an RN license online from PRC. Those applying for a tourist visa with an RN license at PRC are very likely to use the loophole to do adjustment of status in the USA

Philippine Embassy has nothing to do with Tourist Visa to USA.

I am gonna assume you never been to the Philippines, by your statements.

There are very few jobs available in general, The Philippines is very crowded Country with many people chasing few jobs, thus that is why pay rate is about $7 per day in PI.

Education is very important to many Filipino's and you will find many people in PI with a bachelor degree of some sort (Commerce, etc).

As far as chasing the American Dream. PI was a US Colony until US granting them Independence after WW II, and they are still heavily influenced by the USA. English is the business language in PI, and all Road Signs and Billboards and most business forms are in English.

When I talked to my wife why she was in Nursing School. Her original plan was to go abroad and work in Canada (Since her Sister does Immigration Work there).

Even if someone is an outsider about nursing (kinda like I am), then you must admit that Philippines is known for turning out excellent nurses, It is their reputation.
