April 2018 California Cohort

Hey everyone, I applied for the April 2018 California Cohort, did anyone else apply? The next cohort after this isn't until August 2018. Anyone know when they'll make their decisions on admissions for April? Hopefully soon!

I didn't get a phone call at all. So, obviously I am just going to retake the TEAS for a higher reading score and hope for the best in August.

Thanks for the information. I have a phone meeting scheduled with my advisor tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully she can provide me with more information. She hasn't replied to the email I sent her over the weekend.

Please keep us updated. I hope they have good news for you soon.

Really no updates. They're basically saying it's an issue with the state and not the BSN program, , or clinical partners. August and October are still projected, and there may or may not be a cohort starting before then, it's all dependent on the issues with the state. That's basically what I've got for now. Just a waiting game. She said we could have more information in a month, could be several months, it's basically out of WGU's hands at this point.

Weird that they keep giving us different answers. The counselor I spoke with a few days ago assured me that it was the hospital in OC. Now, it's the state. I wonder if anyone knows what's really going on.

I feel like it's a bit of a game of telephone. Whatever is causing the issue tells the CA Director, who in turn tells someone else, who probably tells someone else, eventually making its way to the enrollment supervisor, then the individual advisors. Who knows how much that information has changed along the way or how different people interpret things. All we can do is hope at this point that things get back on track sooner rather than later.

She did tell me in the past that Utah had been postponed 4 months and Texas had been on hold for almost 6 months, so it does happen from time to time for various reasons.

Hi guys,

After reading this forum, I'm kind of terrified about my chances of getting into the August 2018 cohort. This is my first time applying to and it's my first choice University to get my BSN. Hopefully they resolve the issue soon because it might mean that applications from 2017 will be added to 2018 meaning it will be more competitive for spots.

Yes I'm worried as well, I blew off cal state sb because was perfect for me to continue working... I am really regretting that decision. I am even looking at reeling it back and going private just to get it done. California is ridiculous.

I wish you good luck with this whole thing.

Hopefully we both are able to get into the program and everything is resolved. I am currently trying to figure out what to do if this doesn't turn out well. I might have to take Microbiology again at my community college since a limited amount of institutions accept credit from Straighterline. It sucks cause I'm so delayed becoming an RN. I don't even have an associates because I decided to just dive into a bachelor's. Do you mind me asking what city in California do you stay in? I'm in Santa Clarita near Lancaster and Pasadena. I heard they're more likely to accept students applying for the clinical courses if they live near the partner hospital.

The next cohort may be more competitive than usual, as the folks who were in the April cohort may now be competing with a larger applicant pool than they did initially. For example, I originally missed the application cutoff for April, but because April has been postponed, and my application is now complete, I will be competing with the original April folks for the next cohort. Hopefully, they will open another cohort before August, as well as the August cohort, and it will all work out about the same.

My counselor never mentioned that living near clinical sites has any bearing on admission.

I'm far like Victorville and I have been applying since Feb cohort

I'm unsure of how valid the statement is about having a high chance of admission to the program based on if you live near the partner hospital. I basically read it from another forum. Hopefully they do open another cohort before August. Have you spoken to your counselor about any updates about the upcoming admissions? I would like to know what's going on cause this is stressful.

Oh cool! Victorville is near Santa Clarita! I wish you luck!

I've had no updates regarding a reschedule of April. I was one of the admitted students for April, so I'm sure I'll be one of the first to hear what's going on.
