April 2018 California Cohort

Nursing Students Western Governors

Hey everyone, I applied for the April 2018 California Cohort, did anyone else apply? The next cohort after this isn't until August 2018. Anyone know when they'll make their decisions on admissions for April? Hopefully soon!

I think it is a solid program, and I understand if unforeseen circumstances arise; however, I wish when they contacted me to rescind my admission, they would have provided me more information, such as when the next cohort would be, if I was automatically rolled over to that, etc., instead of just telling me my cohort has been cancelled and we have no further information for you, sorry.

If California cohorts keep getting cancelled, I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to apply for the South Utah program and commute back and forth...I don't have any other options for programs as this is the only one that works with my schedule. I don't know if this is a hospital thing, a WGU thing, an accreditation thing, BRN, etc.

When does the cohort in Southern Utah begin? Maybe flying to Texas would be easier. I hope you get more information soon.

I have no clue..was just a thought at this point and I don't have any information regarding other state cohorts. I'm really hoping I hear good news this week. I'm hoping they just move the April cohort back to May or June and I get to keep my seat. We'll see.

I asked my counselor about the other city cohorts and she said the nursing director would likely deny anyone not residing in that city. However maybe they will have a change of heart since the California cohort got cancelled. I think Texas cohorts seem to be a little easier to get in to than the Utah. On the website it said that both the Dallas and Houston cities have cohorts that begin every month.

Well that's disheartening, but thanks for the info. I looked a little more at the Salt Lake City program instead of South Utah because it's a quick flight from Orange County, but if they wouldn't entertain that, then that's out the window.

I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed they let me into the next CA cohort (hopefully soon) and that the CA program isn't cancelled indefinitely.

Sounds awesome. I am applying to Florida's Cohort in November. I doubt it is as competitive as California. I take the teas soon. They really recommend around 85%. I think Florida gets 30 qualified applicants and accepts 10 students according to the nursing advisor from .

Wow I haven't heard anything at all... and now I'm reading it's cancelled... maybe we chose the wrong school.... damn it!

Were you accepted for the April cohort? They didn't notify you at all? Wow.

Nope I guess not... :(

So I just got the phone call... it's been postponed but they are hoping to get another one started before August

From your advisor? And did they say you were admitted? I'm still waiting to hear back from mine, the last word I got was Friday when I was told it was cancelled. Any word as to why it was cancelled?

The adviser I spoke to yesterday told me that August would not be cancelled because it was with a different hospital system (Pasadena) vs the April cohort (OC), and that April was being postponed vs cancelled. He didn't know until when. He reiterated repeatedly that it was due to hospital issues that were no reflection on the program at . So, I am trying to remain optimistic.

Thanks for the information. I have a phone meeting scheduled with my advisor tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully she can provide me with more information. She hasn't replied to the email I sent her over the weekend.
