I need to find the approved seven hours of training in the prevention, early detection, intervention, California reporting requirements, and treatment of child neglect and abuse CE I can take to submit to the board.
does anyone know a link they can post for this class?

The course was added in 2003. I don't know if it has been updated since then. However, I did search Quantum on the BRN website and they are still an approved CEU provider in CA until 2025.
All the other CA mandated reporter classes that were posted on allnurses don't seem to exist anymore.
Here is another one created by the state. FREE

When I first looked at this, the general course was only 3 hours. I went back and it is now 4 hours. If you take the general course and the medical course, you get 7 hours.

Thank you! I did find one and the state accepted it but now I have to find a program in CA my BSN program was out of state and the PHN wasn't built in.
I just started the free course. It has the 2 hour general course rolled into the nurse course. So, it is only 3-4 hours, no where near the 7 hours needed.
Which ceu course did you take?
I found this one on a more recent allnurses post:
https://www.zurinstitute.com/courses/child-abuse-psychotherapy/overview/ $79
https://www.quantumunitsed.com/online-ceu/child-abuse-reporting-law-california.php $35
There are also courses on Homestead schools that could be combined to make 7 hours. Maybe combine them with the free state program for cheaper.
Here are the university courses for Public Health Nursing

https://www.csun.edu/nursing/phn
Aspira Continuing Education. For my 7 hours and I have been in contact with CSUN I am northern CA and they cannot guarantee online classes.

Hello all,
I came across this feed while Googling mandated reporter/abuse classes for the phn certification in CA. Perhaps someone could advise me. I have been trying to contact the BRN for about a year now. I have been attempting to apply for my phn cert. but I know that if your application is rejected they keep your money. I fall in the cracks of all the categories (methods) and it looks like I don't meet requirements on any of them. I hold an ADN at my local Ca. community college which provided me with the minimum mandated reporter requirements. I also hold an BS in health science in Ca. that taught public health, as well as an out-of-state MSN in which I did not receive any training on abuse/neglect. Additionally, I am a dual-license holder in the state of California, possessing both an RN and a Paramedic license. I have had numerous experiences and training as a mandated reporter as a Paramedic. Hell, I filled out a CPS form last week and spoke to a representative regarding an alleged abuse case. Furthermore, I received my board certificate in public health last year (CPH), but I cannot seem to meet the BRN's requirements. They won't call or email me back. They aren't taking walk-in's for questions, and I've even tried faxing them a note. I understand that in 2024 fees are waived for phn certification and I'm willing to try, even if I get rejected as it's free, but I thought I'd take an online 7hour abuse class. I looked at the one suggested above, but the "medical workers" section is too short. Can someone please help me locate an approved class for the California BRN phn cert?
I have not looked into any other schools. As far as I can tell CSUN is the only program. Also this is what CSUN sent me "For the Public Health Nurse Certificate, NURS 428 & 428L are the courses that you will need, A total of 5 units (3 units lecture/2 units clinical). Acceptance to course depends on seat availability. Currently its $352/unit so for a 5-unit course it would be $1760.00 PLUS Clinical Site (see below)”

CSUN is looking like only school in CA. If you do not have your public health, nurse certificate education built into your courses, it doesn't matter about all your other classes. You have to take some specific bachelor of nursing courses that are aligned with the state of California..
Shan1229,
Thank you for being so informative. I think I'll just bite the bullet and attend those classes. I really appreciate your help. Good karma sent your way!

There is a the virtual program available for clinical, its is about $100 for the program. We offer the course in Fall, Summer, and Spring if there are enough applicants and space." This is from CSUN, the only school I can assert that provides the classes for the PHN. I did my seven hour through Aspire.
