What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the challenges of meeting requirements for Public Health Nurse certification in California, specifically regarding mandated reporter/abuse classes. CSUN is identified as the primary school offering the necessary courses, but the cost and availability of classes are significant concerns for members. Some members are considering online options and seeking advice on alternative schools that offer the required classes.

I need to find the approved seven hours of training in the prevention, early detection, intervention, California reporting requirements, and treatment of child neglect and abuse CE I can take to submit to the board.

does anyone know a link they can post for this class?

yes, UOP does have those classes but the clinical has to be set up locally and in person. Also, they won't sign me up until I get approval to use them from the BRN. I have emailed and called many times. The only response I got was from the BRN saying that UOP is not accepting new students (which it is). Very confusing.

Ughhhhh. Such a run around.

From CSUN:

"Our Fall semester starts in AUG 26th.

We need a total of  10 students in order to host an online session.

I will be reaching out with next steps once we meet the required number."

Yes! I got that email too.

Just checking in was everyone able to get into a program? I finally got approved based on my transcripts from out of state. It took a long time and many calls but happy it worked out. Good luck to everyone on getting into a program and being able to apply when done.

I did get in. But I wasn't in the right head space so I dropped. I just got out of my masters program and I needed a break. So I will going to attend next Spring.
