Applying to UCLA MECN to start Fall 2015?

Published

Hi! Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program? Last year I applied and wasn't accepted. I believe they accepted around 12%. They had 70 spaces down from 90 the previous year.

any Bruins out there? a hopeful lifetime Bruin :)

I am! I will be graduating Winter Quarter!

I really wish that they had more stats on nursing schools, If anyone finds out how many people submitted an App I would love to know!

Also submitted...is there any way to put this out of my memory bank until the decision comes? LOL

I agree, it seems like nursing schools in general in L.A. don't release stats or if they do, they're a couple of years old.

@ShirleyRex: I don't think so lol. But I would definitely like to know of a way to put it out of mind too lol. February seems like such a long time away ..did you apply to any other schools?

@ElizabethH736 I'm going to apply to CSULB, CSULA, and CSUF. Maybe CSUN, but if I got in, the commute would be terrible. Between the Cal States, I think I have the best chance at CSULB, but I'm re-taking the TEAS to be sure. For UCLA...I can't make a prediction, based on the threads from the past years. It's good that it's not as objective as the CSUs with their point systems but that makes it more nerve-wracking!

@ShirleyRex Those are all great programs! I'm definitely applying to CSUN because I'm a student here and I'm finishing my BA in psych. I can't wait to graduate in 6 weeks lol. I'm also applying to CSULA as well. The other schools I'm applying to are CSUCI and CSUSM. However, both of those schools are pretty far from me. I'm really hoping to get into UCLA, it's my top choice! I'm also re-taking the TEAS, but only because I need to score higher on the math section. I'm taking it on the 22nd at CSULA. When are you re-taking it?

It definitely seems like UCLA mostly values our reason for wanting to become a nurse. I'm glad that they seem to value that more so than having close to a 4.0 lol.

Hey ElizabethH736, How do you know that they're releasing admissions decisions in February? Did I miss something?

Sorry I meant to say March. I only said February because I read something on a previous thread for the MECN program where someone said the earliest they heard was February.

Can we skip to the part where we are all excited and making our cohort Facebook page?
