Applying for Tarrant County College Nursing, fall 2009

Published

Just dropped the application in the box at nursing dpt. on south campus. Good luck to everyone who's doing the same thing, and :bowingpurGod bless you all!

I got "A"s in all of my pre-requites, and alright score on my TEAS test, 85 national, and 85 regional. My grammar part of TEAS wasn't the best since I am an ESL, which is why my percentile isn't in the 90s. But hopefully I will be able to get in, after all, TCC is the only school I applied, I feel good about it.

Anyone else is out there?

When I took the test, there were WAY more physical science and general/life science type questions than there were A&P, Chemistry, and Micro questions. There were only a couple of very general A&P, Micro, and Chemistry questions. Be sure you understand how the science diagrams/graphs work. There were quite a few of those.

I remember there being a bunch of 'rock' questions. I dont know anything about ROCKs!!! So study up on how they are formed and the different types. These type of questions might have been in the study guide, but I guess I skipped over that section, thinking "why would I need to know anything about rocks"?!?!??!

Just a heads up for you. Good luck!! I took the TEAS several months ago - I plan on re-taking it soon.

I know, rocks, funny, I got 2 questions about it in my TEAS, I used "mini mini mamimo!"

Just to let you guys know that I heard from the counselor at TCC that I wouldn't be getting in for the fall semester because they had decided to not give me credit for PE. They had originally told me that since I had served in the Navy that I would get credit for PE. They will look for anyway to keep you out of the program. I am very fortunate that I got into the program at Weatherford College.

Well that totally stinks!! I've heard TCC is VERY picky! Glad you got into Weather. Thats where I plan to apply soon.

mmrush, thats interesting considering at the info session they said that you do not need PE and speech to apply, just before you start classes.... so, theoretically you could take them over the summer. I'm wondering if they kicked my app out b/c i dont have those yet? do you know who you spoke with?

Hi,

I spoke with Jonell Mitchell. She even told me at the info session that I would have no trouble getting in. As she put it "I would just slide in there". She needs to retire.

I was really bitter at first but now I think that it may be a blessing. I did get accepted at Weatherford and I've heard some really good things about the program.

The official turn-down letter came today.

I just got my letter in the mail today and got accepted for Fall 2009!!!! OMG!! i had so much doubt i had and overall gpa 3.5 and science gpa 3.75 teas score of 73%. God is so good!!!!

Yeah, my wife and I are in! We got the letters just now! Didn't expected, but they came, two big white envolops!:lol2::lol2::lol2:

The game just started!;););)
