Applying for Tarrant County College Nursing, fall 2009

Hi, I spoke with Jonell Mitchell. She even told me at the info session that I would have no trouble getting in. As she put it "I would just slide in there". She needs to retire. I was really bitter at first but now I think that it may be a blessing. I did get accepted at Weatherford and I've heard some really good things about the program.

Applying for Tarrant County College Nursing, fall 2009

Just to let you guys know that I heard from the counselor at TCC that I wouldn't be getting in for the fall semester because they had decided to not give me credit for PE. They had originally told me that since I had served in the Navy that I would get credit for PE. They will look for anyway to keep you out of the program. I am very fortunate that I got into the program at Weatherford College.

    Carpool to Weatherford

The counselor from the South Campus at TCC called me yesterday and told me that I wouldn't be getting in this fall because I didn't have my PE complete. Can you believe that? How petty can you be? Oh well, I did get into Weatherford and I'm very happy to be going there.

Masters Degree to RN? San Antonio

I'd say you should go for it. I have an MBA in Healthcare Administration and am just finishing up the required courses for entry into an ADN program. I was in the same category with my previous salary but have decided to do what I want to do for a change even though the same money is not there. I'm going for the shortest route to RN because having another degree isn't important to me although it may be to you. You'll have to start over and take all of the basic sciences and get an A in every one of them to get in. I got no preference from the schools for having a Masters Degree. I start my program this fall. Good luck in your decision!

    Carpool to Weatherford

Thanks for the message but not all of it came through. I understand that you are commuting to Weatherford from Mansfield. Thanks

    Carpool to Weatherford

I had 23. I sent an email to the coordinator asking her what the cutoff was at the present. She said that there were 90 applicants so far and that people with 20 and higher were getting in. She did say that she thought some making 20's would be alternates. Sounds like you're in.

I applied to both too. I think that I'll get into Weatherford but TCC is iffy.

    Carpool to Weatherford

Hi All, I'll be commuting to Weatherford College from Arlington beginning this fall. Is there anyone in the area interested in carpooling to the ADN program?

    Nursing schools in DFW

Does anyone know what a competitive score is for getting into Weatherford? My point total is 23 out of a possible 26. Thanks

Am I too old to start a nursing career?

Well, I may very well be the oldest nursing student when I start this fall. I'll be 64 when I start and 66 when I graduate. I plan on working another 10 years after that. This is something that I've always wanted to do but never was in the situation to do it. I'd be doing this if I had Warren Buffet's money.
  12. I have completed my pre-req's after this semester and have applied to a couple of ADN schools. I've been assured that my scores are high enough to get into either of the schools. I will be 64 years old when I start this fall. I decided after retiring from a career in medical diagnostic sales to do this because it is something that I've always wanted to do. I became interested when serving as a Navy Hospital Corpsman but got sidetracked and ended up with an MBA in Healthcare Administration and a long successful career. Now I am fulfilling a dream. I'm in great physical shape with good longivity genes and expect to work at leat 10 years when I get through school. Am I the oldest guy doing this?
