Applying for 2006

Published

Hi,

Anyone else out there applying this fall/winter to BSN programs in Oregon? I am getting my application packets organized, ordering transcripts etc. Last year I applied to one school, Linfield, and was wait-listed :crying2:. Now that all my pre-reqs are complete I am applying to 5 schools and hope to have better luck and maybe even get accepted to one of them!

Linfield has not recieved that good of reviews from what I hear from employees at OHSU. I guess their students didn't pass as good on the boards as average. Oh well, just thought I would put my two cents in.
Linfield's NCLEX-RN pass rate for 2004-2005 was 93.33.

Only 2 schools had higher rates, OHSU-SOU Ashland and Walla Walla Portland.

The only school with a lower pass rate than OHSU Portland was OHSU-EOU LaGrande.

Linfield did have an extremely low pass rate about 10 years ago, and they have implemented a lot of HESI and other review systems and have brought it up. Financial aid is unpredictable, to the OP; you might want to find out what scholarships and grants you will qualify for. Due to the aid and the semester system versus quarter system, I paid less for Linfield than I would have for OHSU.

I am in Linfield's program and love it!!! I will be graduating in 5/07. The program has a definate community health approach, which I really enjoy.

Good luck to you!

I'm considering moving to the Portland area, so I am trying to find out about the nursing schools in that area. Are there waitlists? For Linfield, I will not have a year of chemistry by the next application deadline. Are they really strict about having that BEFORE you apply, or do they just want you to have it before you start?

Information on other programs is helpful! Thanks so much!!

I think you are fine if you have it done by the time you start.

When I applied for fall 2004, they were fine as long as prereqs were finished by the time we started.
