Hi,
Anyone else out there applying this fall/winter to BSN programs in Oregon? I am getting my application packets organized, ordering transcripts etc. Last year I applied to one school, Linfield, and was wait-listed . Now that all my pre-reqs are complete I am applying to 5 schools and hope to have better luck and maybe even get accepted to one of them!

Hi bowkerj,
My wife and I went through the whole process last year. Maybe this will be some encouragement... My wife applied to 3 BSN programs in 2004 and was not accepted to any of them. In 2005 she applied to 4 or 5 schools (3 of them BSN) and was accepted to all of them. Talking to a few of the repeat applicants who are currently in my program (University of Portland) it sounds like the school gave more weight to repeat applicants. Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck.
Out of curiosity, I am wondering why you only applied to Linfield last year? If you'd like to hear more about the University of Portland School of Nursing I'd be glad to share my experiences with you. I will say I have been extremely impressed thus far.

Walla walla is another great bsn program.
Hi Evan,
Thanks for responding. I applied only to Linfield because I was still a sophmore and hadn't finished the pre-req's. At Linfield you can apply as a sophmore whereas OHSU, U of P you have to be a junior. It is hopeful that I got wait-listed to the only school I applied to - perhaps this year they will accept me! :)

Hi! I'm new here, and taking my Pre-Requisets at Portland Community College. I am taking my pre-requisets to go to OHSU, which is differen than all other schools. I should be done sometime next year. What 5 schools have BSN programs? I was only away of University of Portland and OHSU. I think Linfield, too...? But I was unsure if that was just a RN-BSN program or what.

Linfield has a regular BSN program, as does Walla Walla. I think that Concordia just started one as well. Last that I knew, Linfield's prereqs are similar to OHSU's, minus the small group communication course.

I realize your post was a few months ago, but I just wanted to say OHSU has now changed their requirements, and only requires a minimum of 45 credits to apply. :) Whatever school you choose, good luck!
THanks Midget - I got into Linfield's BSN program now and LOVE IT!
I talked to some people about Linfield, but no schools really drew me in as much as OHSU has. However, I admit, I really couldn't find any great information about Linfield. If I don't get accepted to OHSU, though, I'll probably work on pre-reqs for other schools, since they will probably count as general ed anyway! :)

I am wanting to go into Linfield's BSN program eventually. I will be starting my pre-reqs at the McMinnville campus. If you have any info about Linfield what you like about it, what you don't like about it, any issues with the cost of going to Linfield, then that would be great because I really would like to go but have only heard so much about the program. Thanks
Amber
This wasn't addressed to me, but I did want to respond with something. Linfield is expensive, but they do have a lot of options for scholarships, grants and other financial aid.

I went to Linfield McMinnville campus for 2 years and then to the Portland Nursing campus for 1 year until I got sick with meningitis but anyways, yes its super expensive, I owe like $30K and I still have 1 year left of my BSN. And that is with grants and loans. I almost wished I just went to PCC or OHSU. I now work at OHSU and am looking to apply in the winter for 2007. Linfield has not recieved that good of reviews from what I hear from employees at OHSU. I guess their students didn't pass as good on the boards as average. Oh well, just thought I would put my two cents in.
