That has to be one of the most sadest things I have ever heard... poor dear.

This is our fourth week into the semster and we have a test next Thursday. I am really nervous because the test is going to be mostly comprehensive with essay questions and almost no multiple choice or fill in the blank. I am really going to have to know this stuff!! Well, I should probably go study seeing as I have a physiology test this Friday...

I am finding a lot of chemistry in both my phys and micro classes. We are using the Tortora book for micro as well. Great job on your exam!! It helps that I have already taken a semester of Chem and a year of Bio. I find that a lot of stuff that we are going over is very familiar to me. We have our first exam in a few weeks and I am already nervous. This is only our second week of classes though so I shouldn't worry too much yet... Good luck to everyone!!

I also had class yesterday... I guess private schools don't give time off for some of the holidays that others schools do. It sucks because everyone else has the day off and wants to do something. Oh well...

Great idea!! I'm starting nursing school in the fall of this year!! I am very excited!!

18 when I started my pre-reqs. I start nursing school in August and will be 20!!

I am taking microbiology as well as physiology plus two other classes in the spring... this should be interesting!

Just finished my final this morning at 8am. It is a relief to be done, but I am so nervous to see what grade I got. I will know this weeend!! Good luck to everyone else!!

I have my final Anatomy exam at 8am on Thursday... I am so nervous. I also have two finals tomorrow so needless to say I will be somewhat sleep deprived... I don't remember finals being so stressfull last year!! Oh well it will be over soon enough and then there will be weeks of relaxation and Christmas celebration :icon_cheesygrin:

MissRNstudent, What I have been able to find so far is that the postcentral gyrus is in the parietal lobe of the brain and is a primary sensory area. So, I wouldn't think that it would cause an action, but it would cause sensation. I hope this helps!!

I'm not an RN yet, but I am going to be attending nursing school in the fall of '08. I am the first born and have an alcoholic mother.

I went with my boyfriends brother the other day to urgent care and he was seen by a doctor who was chewing gum with his mouth open. He was smacking it around in his mouth and it was very obnoxious. It was one of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen. Since when is it ok to chew gum, let alone smack it, while you are treating a patient!?

Ok... so I am in my second year at a private college taking my required classes to get into the nursing school. Last weekend, I went with my boyfriend to urgent care because his brother had a severe nose bleed that had lasted for about 2-3 hours. He lost a lot of blood... it was so bad that it was runny down his throat and making him gag while trying to spit it out in a cup. Anyway, I watched the doctor instert a "nasal rocket" (what the doctor called it) into his nose. Then he said it would have to be left in for 3 days... etc. Well, as he was finishing up I started to feel a little dizzy and my legs felt limp. My vision went fuzzy, my ears were ringing, I started sweating, and I felt like I was going to throw up or pass out. I barely made it out of there on my feet and went to the bathroom incase I did throw up. Then I went outside to get some fresh air and I felt much better. I'm just wondering why this happened because I've seen this kind of stuff before... for example, I'm taking Anatomy and we have been studying off the cadaver, I've seen people bleeding and watched them get stitches. It's just very strange to me. I felt the same way as I did when I went into shock after I had knee surgery and ended up throwing up. I'm just wondering if this will be a problem when I get into nursing school and start doing clinicals or when I get through nursing school and am taking care of patients. Any advice would be great!! I would suggest definately meeting with a tutor. The tutors were the only reason that I got through Chemistry my first year. Also, if your school has some sort of learning support center, you should check into taking your test in a different room and getting more time on it. At my school, if you have problems with test taking, you can make arrangements to take the test in a room by yourself and sometimes you can even get more time on it. Don't give up! Keep telling yourself that you can do it. I know that it is hard to bounce back after that but I failed my first test in both Chemistry and Biology and ended up getting a B in both classes! It is possible, but it takes a lot of work. Good luck!!
