Applying for nursing CANADA

Published

Hi everyone. Last year I applied to 2 schools for nursing and got rejected because my average was at 76%. I am now upgrading my marks. But I was wondering if there are school in Canada (preferably ontario or alberta) that have lower average for the BSCN program.

Thanks ,

Jamie

I don't think you would get into a BSN program in Ontario with that low of an average. Where did you apply? I ahve heard that York is a bit easier to get into than others. You may have more luck if you can improve your average. Good luck.

Not happening in AB. From what I've heard, lately your looking at mid 80s to be considered.

I think there may be less competion in a program that is located outside of a major city, like UOIT or Trent.

I really don't think there's a drastic enough difference in competition to accept that average, though.

I think it's 80% at UBC- they weigh your supplemental application (work and volunteer experience) heavily in addition to GPA.

how about in other provinces?

Likely much the same.

I believe colleges that offer a BSCN degree will have lower admission requirements compared to universities.

Unfortunately not really. Too much competition now. I don't think there is any chance of getting into any BScN program with anything below maybe an 83% ish? And I would say that is probably on the lowest end.

This may be late for you now but I have done recruitment for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) for the past few years and can attest that our BScN acceptance average is in the mid to high 80s (85-88) as of 2016.

I would try applying for the Owen Sound/York collaborative BScN program you may have a chance.
