Thanks! But when you graduate then want to get your BSN, it's not a problem right just because you have a diploma and not an associates?

Specializes in med-surg.

I graduated from MHSON in 2008 - loved it. But I find, that it's becoming an increasing problem to not have your BSN. Hackensack will only be hiring BSN grads as of Jan 1. I know Overlook/Morristown prefer BSN grads. Although I absolutely loved the school, I'd recommend looking into BSN programs.

I've heard that from a few people already but I went to the information session at MHSON in November and loved it! I'm actually taking the TEAS test tomorrow. Did you find a job after you graduated or did you have to go back to school to get your BSN? If so, where did you go for your BSN?

Specializes in med-surg.

I was part of the "lucky last class" were jobs were still pretty readily available to new grads. Sadly after 2008, it seemed that jobs became scarce. I worked ICU (shortly - I hated it) after graduation and then I transferred to med/surg (ironically, did it backwards) and have worked there for 3+ years right across the street. :) Mountainside definitely favors Mountainside grads - so that's a plus. They also now have a BSN program (along with the Diploma program) - it's a partnership with Caldwell College. I'm currently getting my BSN now online @ Chamberlain College of Nursing -- it's an online school, there's a lot of great threads regarding that school on allnurses as well -- just search it :) I've really enjoyed online learning and was able to get married, buy a house, have baby and maintain a FT RN job all within the process of still going to school and not feel too overwhelmed.

Wow that's great that you're able to have so much on your plate and not feel overwhelmed. I would love to work at Mountainside Hospital after I graduate. I also applied to Felician College but I'm hoping to get into MHSON since Felician is so expensive. Hopefully I get accepted and everything works out after. I want this so bad! I will def. search that online school and Caldwell College :)

Did anyone else apply for the Fall 2012 semester? If so have you taken the TEAS assessment yet?

I was just accepted for the Fall 2012 class :). I took the TEAS a couple weeks ago... If your worried about passing it defiantly buy the study book! It really gave a good indication of what was on the test. There were 4 of us who took the test and only one person failed (I was told they are looking for a score of 60+). Also, they interviewed us right after the test!, which was very convenient.

Hope that helped & good luck!

cool I just got accepted too, I took the teas, got an interview and acceptance all on the same day Thank God
