I am applying for the RN program at EC. I have a 3.8 on my pre-requs. and have completed 9 credits of support courses with a 4.00. I scored a total of 92 on Hesi and 100 on the portion that EC looks at for further ranking. I know that it depends on how many 4.00 gpa's apply doesn't it? So let's say that 100 people that apply have 4.0 gpa on prerequ. that means my 3.8 won't make it. This depresses me. I just started college in Jan. 08 and I am now 36. I have 12 A's and 1 stinking B that counts in my prerequ gpa. I am positive that I can make an A if I retake the english class that I received a B in. I absolutely loved A and P and absorb everything easily. However I asked Ms. Kanora Jackson if I should take English over for a 4.0 and she said to go ahead and apply because the lowest in Spring admissions was 3.6. If I do not get in the first time around, will I have to retake HPRS 1204? I guess I should be positive and think of my positive affirmation:" I MADE IT INTO THE RN PROGRAM FOR THE FALL 2009 PROGRAM". I am going to hope that the gpa's will allow my stats admittance.

You have a great GPA! Last fall period, the lowest accepted was below a 3.0! This spring, like Kanora said, 3.6 was the lowest. I really think you'll get in your first try. I wouldn't worry about retaking English. Will you have more support courses done by the deadline? I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
When did you take 1204?

Yes, your GPA is great!! You should be good to go! I have a 3.6 right now, I was originally doing straight A's but I got kinda lax in English and Psych and made B's, but made A's in everything else. lol But I'm not gonna bother taking them over at this point. I have 14 hours of support courses done and I have a 3.4 in that area, made all A's and had a C from back in the day from Speech when I was and Fashion major. :plol I made an 86 on my HESI without studying for it, but I'm gonna retake it to make a higher score for Brookhaven's program since they are on more of a point system. I hope to get in either or, if I don't I'll just apply to TWU for Spring 2010. My overall GPA for TWU is looking like a 3.7 right now. But I'm going to be optimistic for El Centro's program and a Fall 09 entry!! :) I'm going to have to re-take my HPRS though because I took it in Fall 07, so I'm taking it this spring for like 2 and 1/2 weeks so that I'll have it in time for the app deadline. I was suprised to hear that in Fall 2008 the lowest was about 3.4 or something of that sort. But hey whatever the lowest is I hope I make it in. :) I refuse to stress about it anymore. Good luck to you though, I don't think you'll have any problems.
I don't know if 100 people wil have 4.0 GPA's, that has happened in the past but not lately. But if it is then you and I both are in trouble. :)

I am super nervous I have a 3.67. I had a 4.0 until last semester when I got two B's. I was working going to school and trying to take care of my two children I just bit of more than I could chew. I have a 4.0 in the support classes I have taken. I have taken all but a&p2 and speech which I am taking right now. One of the things that worries me most about applying this semester is the 15 students that got knocked out of the program last semester because of the mix up with GPA's means that those 15 people are going to have had a chance to get there GPA up and may be at the top of the list. Also last semester 3.6 was the lowest GPA they took and my 3.67 is so close to that minimum. It feels like April will never get here.
The cut off was a 3.6 at El Centro only. It was lower at Northlake, so be optimistic! :) As long as you get in somewhere, that should be all that matters.

Mom 35, I've just applied for this fall semester with an expired HPRS 1204 (I took it Spring '08) and they basically told me I'd get 3 chances to re-demonstrate and pass all of the skills again, instead of having to take the class over. However, you've got an extremely great chance of getting in so I'm sure you won't even have to bother retesting! :wink2:
