This may be a far fetched thread but I am planning on applying next fall (or second half of year June 2nd-Dec 31st) for the Fall 2015 start AP BSN program (also applying on campus just to cover my bases). A little jealous that other schools like TWU can apply in the semester before the they are looking to start. Either way I was thinking this thread could help those who are needing to know the process and others who have info from advisors that could share with the rest of us. So here are my questions:
A. I have not taken HESI yet but UTA's does not require sciences from what I have found online and been told by others. Any tips on preparing for this? Which prereqs would you recommend having done prior to testing?
*B. Transferring outside pre-nursing requisites Intro to Nursing, Patho and Pharm. I got info from an advisor that I must fax a "portfolio" including an official transcript, copies of catalog description of course from college, and copy of syllabi for each course. Has anyone else done this and is this done AFTER courses are completed and appear on transcript? Or before the classes are taken? I am considering Brookhaven for these. Is it possible these NOT be approved? Did anyone stack these courses Intro and Pharm same semester or Patho and pharm?
C. UTA upper division elective. Medical Terminology is what is accepted for UTA AP BSN program. How have others taken the course? Such as online, over summer, flex term?
*As you can see B is my biggest concern.
If there is anything else someone would like to add please feel free. I want this thread to help make the application process as smooth as possible for others as well.
Thank you!
has anyone received their email for steps on to complete their bc for texas bon?or does anyone know when we should expect to receive those?
In the email that we received it states that instructions will be sent out after the acceptance responses have been received. The last email I received was the acceptance one, I didn't receive an email that my acceptance response was recorded though.
Does anyone know how the semesters work?
For example, J1 semester includes Clinical Foundations, Holistic Assessment, and Health Promotion. Do all these classes have the same start date? Or do they run end to end, one after the other, through the entire semester?
J2 includes Nursing of Adults, Psychiatric, Older Adults, and Research. I would think that we would do Adults during clinicals for adults, Psych during our psyc rotation, etc, but what do I know, lol.
Also, do clinicals start in J1? Or prep for clinicals J1 and start J2?
Thanks all:)
Good luck to all the fellow applicants that got waitlisted! I had an in-person appt with my advisor this past Thursday, and she confirmed that the first call-offs from the wait list would likely start this week. Don't get discouraged if you don't hear anything immediately or this week...from what I hear, call offs can continue for a good long while. Crossing my fingers that I get the good news (and somewhat soon)!
Thanks murse_dfw. I was wondering when were they going to start calling people off the waitlist.
You bet. Obviously no guarantee, but they should be at a point now that they CAN start calling off people given the past deadlines. Hoping they stick with that, so we don't have to wait any more than necessary. :)
I just read on the Facebook page for UTA nursing students that the admissions office is very understaffed and that is why some who accepted a place may not have received emails yet. So, if you were accepted and did not get an information email, they say it should come today or Monday. I wonder if this is slowing down the calls for the waitlist also.

I was accepted to the on-campus program!!! Does anyone know when we will be told when and where clinicals will take place?
