At my school you need to take a class in the summer following the 1st year of nursing school. Taking this class qualifies you to seat for the NCLEX PN exam.
You'll have to find out with your school how they do things.
Good luck.

In the area that I live in, Florida, you have to complete 3 terms successfully before sitting for LPN. I am planning on taking my LPN boards after the third term just in case. Never know what may happen, yanno?
i am in california, does anyone have any idea how it works.

My school has that info posted right on their website. Have you checked the sites of the schools you might be interested in? Also at my school I know you can take the CNA exam after the first semester of ns.
In Florida, you can get your CNA after the first semester and then LPN after the 3rd. They didn't tell us that, and it's not on the school site. We were just curious and went to admin and asked about it.

This depends upon the policies of the school you are attending. Ask the people in your office to help you with the process.
