applied for PRN job. Do you have one? Would you?

After long struggle between: "screw America whatever I make they just take it away" and "but I am bored working only 3 nights, plus I want more $$$", I took my lazy butt to apply for my first ever "second PRN job".... (drum rolling) flu shot clinic :lol2:

I know I got some gold info from people in my previous post about making more financially; working prn for home health, travel, OT, critical bonus, etc, but in the end, it was just another shift at a job I hate and I really don't want to do something that makes my life miserable (bedside) for extra money a lot of which will go to taxes anyways. I would love to do something 1x/wk that's not healthcare related!

Having that said, I read a ton of threads about side jobs. Even the suggestion about working at Starbucks or as bartender 1x/wk sounded really nice! Anybody have a nice gig they do on the side that you enjoy? My friend is a artistic base player (not the electric) and plays on the side for good occasional dollars.

By the way, I am jack of NO trades, master of none :mask:

What are your interests and hobbies outside of work? I know nurses that do catering, sell cupcakes, sell Mary Kay or Avon.

Specializes in CVICU.

I worked with a couple of nurses who worked very part time at the Pottery Barn and loved it. They didn't do it for the $, they did it for the generous employee discount.

I worked with another one that taught exercise classes and loved it.

Identify something you love and try to find a gig doing it.

I worked with another nurse who started a business with an RT doing mobile BLS and ACLS classes and is doing very well with it.

Specializes in LTC, med/surg, hospice.

I don't do this since I moved but I did piano lessons for beginners at one time and provided music for a church youth choir. I'm not talented enough to be super lucrative but it was easy money doing something I enjoyed.

unfortunately other than working out at they gym and playing basketball at my whooping 5'6"... :*( plus I am not one of those crazy fitness people anymore after school. It's kind of sad, I don't have any hobbies or interest other than wanting to go back for more school.

oh ya by the way, waiting on FNP app from 2 schools, missed a call from flu clinic today, so hopefully they will call me back tomorrow :)
