Applied to Indiana State University for LPN to BSN?

Updated:   Published

Hello nurses, I wonder if any of you have applied to Indiana State University for the LPN to BSN online program? I sent in my application in March, and currently awaiting a response, which they say will be at the end of May. The waiting is stressful! Have any of you applied to this program? Does anybody know how competitive this program is? Thanks in advance!

Hello All!

I have just applied to the program to begin August 2022- My science GPA 3.1, and Kaplan 86%... I am so terrified I am not going to get in.

For all that have completed the program- how long did it take. So, I have every  class finished other than the Nursing classes. I had previous degree from another school. I am currently a LPN for home health office, and they have basically offered me an administration job once I have my BSN. I know that its 11 classes- my plan is just to go PRN for work while I am in school to get finished ASAP.  Just wondering how quick some have been able to complete the program. Thank you!

Trying to see if there are any LPN's who are currently enrolled in Indiana State University LPN to BSN.  Would like some feedback if possible

Sorry wasn't able to answer sooner. I am currently enrolled in the program. They are a bit slow with the process. As far as your GPA and Kaplan score goes - it is above their expected score which is 80% so your chances are high. I had applied in August 2021 and was admitted for the Spring 2022 start. I am fairly new to the program but overall it's a great program. The only downside is clinical placement. For instance, I was not placed this semester for Med. Surg. therefore, I had to drop the class and replace it with another Nursing course. This will delay my expected graduation day so that was the only part I dislike about the program. It is 100% online and self teach. They will only provide power points but have to learn everything on your own. Hope some of this information is helpful!

Hi Sima! Thanks for the reply. I have since graduated from ISU! I am now an RN! Stay strong!

So as far as the results for Kaplan is 80% the minimum score to get in?

Thanks

Oh wow, I don’t know. You could reach out to the school of nursing.

@Nurse5555Last I checked today is 8/30/22 the minimum score is 70 copied from their site,

Kaplan Admission Test Score
Average for recently admitted students: 81
(Minimum for eligibility: 70)

problem is, they had IV drip rates and some medication questions, IV stuff we wouldn't know as an LPN so I got 64/70, super bummed, I even had the Kaplan study book! Any suggestions on other books? please?

Sima, I think I used a KAT test prep book and also a Cliffs Notes Anatomy and Physiology quick review book. Drip rates/medications are totally in your scope as an LPN. You could probably get a LPN review book for reviewing if those are weak points for you.

Medication yes, but in WA LPN’s are hardly used for it and I’ve never done drip they like RN for that ??‍♀️
thank you!
