Hi all,
I've applied to both programs to start in September 2023, and wanting to commiserate with anyone else who is anxiously waiting to hear. Looking back at previous years I'm feeling a bit discouraged since the admissions average seemed to be higher than I had been told by colleagues. Anyhow, let me know if you also applied and when you hear back from schools! Wishing you all the best of luck.

I have not heard if they have full approval yet.
Congrats! That's so awesome. I checked the website and it no longer says they're pending approval!
Hello,
Congrats to everyone who received offers! I am jealous, but from what has been commented so far I can definitely see what a competitive pool it was! ?
I wanted to ask if those who received offers wouldn't mind commenting about your relevant experience? I didn't have any obvious weaknesses according to their application guidelines, so I'm not sure where to focus my improvement for future attempts. I have also emailed UVIC and TRU as they mentioned in their rejection email that we can reach out with questions – hopefully they will provide at least a little insight.
I am hoping to hear about your:
- GPA
- Any additional education (previous degrees, other masters, BCIT specialties, etc.,)
- Years of work
- Areas of work
- Anything else you felt made you stand out (e.g. research experience, volunteering, extra impressive references, etc.,)
Thanks in advance!

GPA: 87% last two years of BScN, 90% bcit ER, 90% bcit ICU
education: BCIT ER, BCIT ICU programs
experience: 9 years alternating ICU/ER, recently urgent care clinic. Also personal experience as a caretaker for a critically ill spouse (experience from the view of the patients and families rather than the nurse). .
extras: amazing references. No relevant volunteer/research experience. Love teaching and always tried to take on a student when possible.
I feel like the essay was a huge part, and writing an essay that isn't "what they want to hear" but speaks to who you are.
So I was accepted into TRU, but have not heard from UNBC.
-GPA 4.26 on a 4.33 scale
-certified practice in sexual health and contraceptive management
-additional education in: forensic nursing, occupational nursing, breastfeeding, perinatal care
- been an RN for 9 years, but had some maternity leaves in there
- experience in acute care, home and community care, public health and primary care
- volunteer with a community organization to run a breastfeeding support group
- quirks: live in a rural/indigenous/underserved area, have been a first cohort through a nursing program before, also have a bachelors in psychology
I feel like my statement of interest for TRU was stronger than it was for UNBC.
