Keep checking! Last year one person said they got a call Mar 1 but some people didn't get notified until the end of March. And not everyone accepts their offer. Fingers crossed for everyone ! The waiting game is so tough.

Specializes in Pediatric Oncology/Chemotherapy Certified.

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted! I have a few queries about UBC. Could someone provide information on the precise cost of only tuition for the two years, the frequency of "in-person" schooling per week, and if there are any scheduled breaks throughout the academic year?

I did come across this on UBC's grad page regarding their current schedule for their grad programs for this year.
might be helpful with answering your question about the frequency of in person classes. https://nursing.ubc.ca/graduate/graduate-course-schedules

In your acceptance letter there is very detailed information.. such as tuition and UBC included a zoom link for FAQs. They offered 2 dates.

AMAZING! I didn't look too deeply into the offer letter. I'll take a good look tonight. Thank you!

Specializes in ER, rural.

I am going so crazy obsessing and trying to not let the outcome impact me too much. I have 10 years rural/ER experience, good references, courses under my belt, and I believe a strong personal statement but I am worried my GPA will be my downfall. 😞 It was enough to make it through to department review, but how much do they wait GPA especially when you've been out of school for so long!!

Hi all, I wanted to give hope to anyone who feels they don't have a "high enough" GPA. I only applied to the UBC program first time and was shortlisted. I am local to the area and I have 2 toddlers. I was hesitant on applying for this coming Fall 2024 as I felt I didn't have a great GPA and didn't have all the bells and whistles compared to other specially certified RNs out there.  My GPA is 3.7. I made up for that in clinical practice as I am a hands on learner. I worked really hard on my mission statement. I attended UBC SON for my undergrad so I think that helped. Also my references were strong, I had a MD I work with, a UBC PhD prof and my current boss.  If you didn't get accepted this year don't lose hope, work on getting more experience in primary care as that exposure prepares you best for autonomous practice. Thank you everyone for all the input these past couple months on this thread. Btw if you haven't heard back from UBC yet they gave me until March 31st to accept my offer so I'm thinking first week of April is when waitlisted candidates will hear back. Best of luck to everyone and so excited to meet all the UBC peeps this fall!

I second this.
Though your GPA is important, it is only part of the picture. I got in with a much lower GPA than A LOT of applicants. I noted there were a few with 4.0+ GPA's that did not get in and many with 3.xx get in.
Remember, it is only a piece of the big picture.

-GPA within the limits set out by the programs.
-A written statement that is personal, clear, and concise.
- STRONG references.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I got an offer of admission for UBC today. Still in shock, but so so grateful.

It has been helpful for me to read this forum and so I thought I'd post about my experience also.

I was surprised to get in because I've only been an RN since 2021. I have worked in primary care in DTES since then, so lots of  focus on chronic disease management, mental health and substance use disorders.

I also got my reproductive health CP and started working at a sexual health org as a RN, but I have worked there for 8 years in another capacity.

My GPA is fairly high and my references were an NP I work closely with in the DTES, an RN who works in CP policy and my sexual clinic coordinator.

I applied to Uvic and UBC.

Hopefully this gives folks who are waiting to hear back and haven't been RNs very long some hope!
