I know that it's early, but I really wanted to get a jump on this. I have read the past two years' threads from start to finish and have seen the amazing support given by everyone involved. Considering how competitive it is for nursing school admission, it is extremely informative and heart-warming. I will be applying to all the schools in the Portland/Salem area to which I will qualify. This next year is going to be rough, but ever since I started on this journey I have loved every moment.
A little about me:
I am 33, married, no kids.
I live in Salem and have taken the bulk of my prerequisites at Chemeketa.
I have been working as a Dental Assistant for 2 years and feel that it is supremely unfair that many of the OCNE schools do not count dental assisting towards their "direct patient care" discretionary points. (I went to school for a year to become a dental assistant. I have dealt with medical emergencies, bodily fluids and have had my fingers in mouths on a daily basis! I'm grumbling, I know.)
I have a 4.0 GPA (so far) for all of the OCNE prerequisites (My single B in one of three Chemistry classes will haunt me when I apply to Linfield)
I am still one term away from finishing my prerequisites for the majority of the schools to which I plan on applying
I don't really think that I will be lucky enough to be accepted to any of the Portland-area community colleges due to my lack of necessary discretionary points (if any of you CURRENT students have found otherwise, I would be very interested to find out what you know!)
I will be applying anyway, because I know that I should at least make it onto a waiting list or two and as I have seen in previous threads - they do go through their waiting lists!
I sincerely hope that all my hard work will pay off and that I will be accepted SOMEWHERE

Okay - gotcha. Sounds like what the guy told me was true to form. They sent out initial emails to fill the spots open after the deadline. He said they'll give those alternates a week to respond and then they'll notify the next alternate(s) on the list next Tuesday/Wednesday.
@BRW85...can I ask what the deadline to accept/decline is at MHCC? I know PCC's deadline is 6/13, so, I'm sure there will be more movement after the deadlines pass.
Just as an FYI, when you make a Facebook page/group.. or probably even a thread. You should NOT affiliate it with your school name. BAD example: CCC class of 2016 nursing program .. DO NOT DO THIS. This falsely affiliates it to the school, when really it is just a bunch of students that want to talk. And I can't remember why but the school doesn't want you doing it and it is in their handbooks. PCC is the same and this is why I know. We had a group initially called that and they ordered us to take it down/rename it. I suggest a private group and from listing on here or private messaging spread the link for the group and name it like Class of 2016 or nurses unite or something fun. - But make a group and have fun! We share lots of study tips and questions and have made friends and ranted it all out in our group. You will need a support group to get through it, but you will make it!
Have a good Memorial Day weekend everyone! At least we can relax for 3 days, since there's nothing to be on the lookout for until Tuesday (for all the CCC hopefuls, anyway).
As a reply, OHSU doesnt care if you use OHSU (at least we got clearance from our campus) in the name of the Facebook group. Just make sure you ask someone at the school before doing it!
Nothing yet. I bet since today was kind of like their Monday, they will probably sent out emails tomorrow after they have sorted everything out. Unless....everybody excepted their spot I guess?

I am unfortunately #23 on it, and although I have heard it moves by pretty quickly I am ansy. This is the only school I have had a glimpse at getting in, therefore if anyone got accepted or is on the alternate list please please choose another school! I am so desperate and would fit perfectly in at MHCC. My fingers are continuously crossed! This is my last hope, it's killing me having to wait!
I am kind of hopeful seeing how a lot of people are choosing OHSU pdx and CCC
I read that it at least has made it to #2 on the wait list so I am hopeful it's at least moving. If anybody had any info about what wait list number MHCC it would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone know if MHCC requires some kind of electronic device? I Read some other post saying their program required it and the use of aps, Just anxious to know now. Thanks

Hi @kristenleee92. I am just as anxious to hear from CCC as you are to hear from MHCC! But, I think MHCC doesn't have their deadline to accept/decline until 6/13. I know there's been movement (one of my friends got accepted their and PCC and she chose PCC and let MHCC know immediately)...but, I don't think there's been a whole lot. I expect that you'll hear something the week of 6/16 if you're going to hear anything at all following that deadline. Of course, we can hear things well into the summer. But, you know, a lot of the initial shuffling is going to happen that week I assume...as orientations are had and people accept or decline spots at all the schools.
At CCC, the accept/decline deadline was 5/16. So, that's sort of why there's more movement with that program versus the others right now. But, I assume lots more movement will happen there as the other deadlines pass, too.
Hear anything @pogues60? Nothing again for me today I am so incredibly impatient. At this point, I am just going to try and look forward to orientation next week and hope that I hear something after that.
