Applicants to Portland area schools 2013

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!

Well, for those of us now waiting for the new email from PCC....best of luck! And good luck to those waiting for CCC too!

I am keeping my thoughts with all of you waiting to hear back from PCC-- this was seriously not the time to make an addition error! I am glad that they seem to understand how serious this is and will let y'all know quickly. Good luck to everyone!

Yesterday I saw that everyone had gotten an email for their acceptance or wait list #and I hadn't gotten anything yet. I assumed I was not accepted or wait listed... then today I looked at my other email I don't use and found the email. ACCEPTED! Then I continued to read the other emails sent out to see the email about the calculation mistake. I went from being disappointed (from not having an email at first) to being so excited (for about 30 seconds until the last email came out) to now being just annoyed that I could not be accepted at all. Bummer. Well lets hope they figure this out soon!

Just checked the email- I am emotionless!!!! I already made the OMG IM GOING TO NURSING SCHOOL calls to family and friends...... OYE VE!!!!!!!!

Yup, in the same boat.

So... After thinking about the PCC email and what not--- If it weren't for this forum I would not have checked my PCC account email until prob June (for orientation)... How many more people are probably thinking the same thing and will not have any idea that their acceptance possibly could be revoked? Umm I hope they plan on accounting for this error by letter or phone call....

I agree! I'm sure there are still people who haven't checked there email and are in the dark. They should have given everyone a call even though that would take extra time. It's just the right thing to do.

I actually didn't get the acceptance email in my regular email, though they said I would.... I checked my PCC account after seeing posts here and was delighted to see acceptance. Then I saw stephwh42's post on the error email and checked my PCC email again and saw the error email. Again, it did not got to my regular email account. So I'm guessing some folks may not have received either email or missed the second one. What if people have already declined other schools because they saw the first email, before they got the second email?!?

When I attended the essay portion an announcement was made that all correspondence regarding admissions would go through your PCC email only. Maybe they didn't make that announcement at all the sessions, but there is a way to set up your gmail to forward all incoming emails to another email address so those of you who don't check your PCC email frequently will not miss any.

That was my concern EXACTLY!!! Like what if people declined others schools because they saw the initial announcement and RAN WITH IT!!! I already sent off my deposit and acceptance to them because I dont live in Portland and wont be there till the summer!!!! I really hope the error doesnt affect people to the fact that "HEY CONGRATS YOU ARE IN" to "OH JUST KIDDING NOW YOU ARE #90 on the WAITLIST!!"

Ohh my goodness! I am so glad I am not the only one freaking out... I got the "ACCEPTED" letter. Announced it to everyone, celebrated with my family....planned everything out and the next day, BOOM...it was the error. Thanks:)

I have been checking my e-mail every 5 minutes today hoping to see the updated letter and praying that I am not #120 on a wait list, haha!

I nearly vomited when I read mine....
