Applicants to Portland area schools

Greetings fellow future nurses! I just mailed my application packets for Mt. Hood CC, Clackamas CC, and Portland CC today and excited to be done with them. I have my proctored essay for OHSU this Wednesday and am a little worried because I have NO idea what is going to be asked. I haven't been able to get any feedback on what is on any of the essays. I am also applying to Chemeketa but am probable wasting my time as I am missing 2 of the pre-recs required there that aren't required at the OCNE schools. Well, the worst they can say is no, right?

Anyway, the Oregon Nursing Programs sections has been a little dead lately so I was hoping to spark some dialogue. This is my first year applying and I'm already getting a little stressed. I kind of have a lot riding on getting in somewhere next fall. My fiance and I are kind of planning on it. I'm hoping that doesn't backfire! How's it going with everyone?

How strange that you did your pre-reqs at mhcc but were declined, but got into pcc. That does not add up, since the point cut off for pcc is stricter than mhcc. If I were you, I'd give a call to them to make sure they added your points accurately, sounds like a discrepancy to me.

Congrats and good luck for your PCC interview though, I'm sure you'll do phenom!

I emailed -----, who is the contact person for program admissions, and requested a review of my application. She said that I may go to the information meeting listed in the denial letter that they sent out where they discuss how to improve your application for the following year. I am really confused though.. I was sure I'd at least get an interview. It's hard to figure out if they made a mistake if no one will talk to me!

I am happy I got an interview at PCC though!

Lol, missmichelle! See, I figured it like this... if they sent them Friday, we would have gotten them Saturday. So since we didn't get them Saturday, I figure they will mail them maybe today- and then we would get them tomorrow! How's that for obsessiveness, lol.

So many people have 4.0's and 3.9's...I have three or four B's

Did anyone that got in this year have any B's?

Sartorius1, I had one B in PSY237 and got a proctored essay invitation for PCC. My overall GPA is 3.91. Where did you apply?

Hi Miss,

The essay went pretty good. I wouldn't be stressed (even though I was a little, too). The way I looked at it...if you are honest, know your own experience, and what you bring to the table you will do fine! That is what I worked on, is just really knowing my story and my life. I was able to crank out two pages right to the end. But they were pretty nice in there so just take a deep breathe and think about you, where you've been, what you've done...You'll do just fine.

I AM having a tad bit of sadness though...no CCC letter today. Ugh! I wish they would just send those puppies out, lol.

what did you think of the clothing situation? did you feel like the proctors were paying attention? i'm still on the fence about dressing up. i actually feel better when i'm wearing comfortable clothing and dress up clothes are not comfortable for me. i know it seems silly, but one of the many pluses about the nursing profession to me is the comfy uniform :)
