How's everyone doing with their Apps?
I applied to MHCC, CCC, PCC and Linfield.
It's my first year applying and I'm a nervous wreck!!!
How long does it usually take to hear whether or not you got an interview?
I was glad to see CCC changed their deadline to Feb 15th like the other OCNE schools-I think it'll make the waiting more bearable!
Anyone else want to share points to see how tight the competition is this year?
Other than Mt. Hood, I don't get too many discretionary points.
Heres what I *think* I have (figuring them myself):
MHCC-63 points
CCC-50 or 51 points depending on how they round up your gpa
PCC-54 points
Good luck everyone!!!
Let the nail biting, stalking the mailbox begin!
If anyone has questions about the CCC program or transferring to OHSU for the BSN, I'd be happy to answer them if I can. I'm using public transportation to get to the hill from SE Portland. The first piece of advice I have for those who would be buying the yearly bus pass from OHSU is to buy it on Oct 1. The pass is pro-rated and it will cost less if you just wait a few days after school starts in late September to buy it. Another piece of advice I would give is to get copy of the book list and start buying them. Unless you need an online component, the Med-Surg book (among others) is much less expensive online. The scrubs are forest green. You might be able to buy patches and/or scrubs from outgoing seniors -- check craigslist this summer. Save some $$. Welcome to nursing school!! Lauren
Hi Lauren --
Do you know when the booklist is available for the 1st years @ CCC? I'm hoping they'll have it for us at orientation next week but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks!
Darn. I was able to get it early off of the bookstore website, the year I started. Looks like that is not possible now. I will say that if I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten the drug book, lab book, medical dictionary, interaction checker and NCLEX review book in the electronic form without buying the paper version. Those are books that are your choice - they don't tell you which ones to get. You can take a trip to Powell's and check out the paper versions to see which ones are set up in a way that works for you. I would also buy an APA style template for my word processor to save hours of angst related to writing papers. (there is enough angst to go around just writing the content..) Here is a basic online reference Re: APA Format: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ (free!) There are lots of opinions on which device to use and which software to buy here on the forums. Some of the software is free.
I've been offline for the past week or so, and am just now catching up. I'm hoping to receive all the information I need next week at orientation, including the required and optional book list.
Also looking forward to meeting everyone!
Still feel good about my decision to accept CCC and decline OHSU. kiwiapple, it is a tough decision. Know in the end that you put a lot of thought into it and rest assured that the decision you end up making will be the right one for you. Once I had mailed off the acceptance and decline letters, it was a good feeling, because the decision was made, and it was about looking forward after that. It's also a nice feeling to know that for every letter of decline you send out, it gives someone else an opportunity.
Good luck to everyone with the programs you have selected . . . and for those of you still waiting . . . hang in there! It will happen!
Hey guys!
Just curious if there are still people out there (yourself or someone you know) who got accepted to multiple schools and are still waiting to report their final decision to the schools? (MHCC specifically)
I don't blame anyone for taking their time as this is a huge, life changing decision......and quite honestly, it's the answer I'm hoping hear!
I'm just really hoping I can attend the MHCC orientation on the 22nd with the knowledge of my start date! (fall or winter) and not be one to find out the week classes start (although, I'll pray for that if it comes down to it!)
Thanks for responding!
Signed,
Nervous Nelly Wait Lister :)

Hi ca,
It's all on ocne website. You can read a ton about options and transitioning on there :)
