Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010

Published

Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!

I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.

Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!! :banghead:

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Telle, did you get my private message?

2010 Student,

I've sat in on John Christie's lecture once, and did not care for his teaching style, nor him personally. He wasn't even following the same material as the labs, and was very much into the chemical parts of A&P. Also when I went to talk to him after the class he refused to talk to me because I wasn't currently registered in his class... even though I emailed him a week before asking if I could sit in, he never replied. He was very rude to me.

I should also say that I took all 3 A&P's with Debra Galba-Machuca, and retook A&P 1 with Ed DeGrauw, but still received a C.

larisagarrett31,

Thanks for the message!

telle926-I took Dr. David Hayteas at PCC Rock Creek, he also teaches at PSU. He is actually really tough, but I got A's in all my A&P's. He's hard and old-school, but everyone who worked hard REALLY mastered the information, and I know that when we get into nursing school we will need it like curiousme said. Good luck!

A great tool is Rate My Professors - Find and rate your professor, campus and more - RateMyProfessors.com

Tragically - the best A & P teacher I have ever had was at Clackamas and he died last semester. :0(

What teacher died? I really hope it's not my favorite teacher.

I am talking about Rich Espino.

I'm very saddened by this. He wasn't just an awesome teacher, but an amazing person as well. :crying2:

Do you know how he died?

Here is a memorial site. There is a lot about Rich that I didn't know prior to his death like his involvement in church youth groups and singing for a Christian rock and roll band in the 70's.

His former students have created a bit of a memorial to him on ratemyprofessor.com also.

He was a wonderful person and I was crushed when I found out. As for how he died, out of respect for his children, the family has tried to keep the details private. I can tell you that it defies logic.

Received an interview invite with CCC today.

Me too! Congrats to everyone who gets one! Anyone hear from PCC?

Nothing from PCC, mailman is being stalked! Did get invite from CCC.

Specializes in Psych.

Got an invite from CCC as well w/ 59 points...

I got invited to CCC interview too. :) Hope PCC send their letters soon too.
