Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!
I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.
Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!!
Good luck to everyone who applied!
hi all,
just received a letter from ccc telling me that my points have been calculated, then asking me to review and get back to them via e-mail or writing if i don't agree with their calculation, and that needs to be done by may 14th. now, as this is my first year applying to any nursing school, is this part of the process? i thought i was waiting for an acceptance or denial letter:confused:? my heart was beating approx 200/min, i almost got an heart attack just by opening the envelope:). i wish i could attach a pic of the opened envelope, let me tell ya, it sure doesn't look like an envelope anymore:lol2:. also, does this mean anything? in other words, will all applicants who applied will receive this letter?
thx
Hello!
I am so very excited and thrilled to say that I received an acceptance letter from OHSU today!! I have also been accepted to Linfield. I feel that both programs have so much to offer and I love the fact that Linfield's program is a year shorter (the fall cohort is only 21 months long). That being said, OHSU's reputation is something that can't be taken lightly. I love that they are a teaching hospital and I will have access to so much that I might otherwise never see. Does anyone have any thoughts that might make the decision easier? I'm so shocked and happy. I want to make the right choice, it's such a tough decision. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Congratulations Andie, what campus did you get accepted to? I have a letter from UP, the only reason I am waiting for OHSU is because I want the year long clinical, I work EMS in Boise Idaho yesterday I brought a Pt into the ED and the receiving RN was a student from OHSU doing clinicals, at this point i want that extra year, the counter argument is that after you get your job you are still learning and will gain more experience working than in clinicals.
Thanks Ray! I was accepted at the Portland campus. I feel so torn! I agree completely. The year long clinical would be amazing, but then there is the flip side. I keep hearing that the first six months of working is pretty much just shock and awe no matter where you did clinicals. OHSU just seems so hard to turn down...decisions, decisions! Best of luck to you!!
I spent last 2 years retaking my B's.
I should be sick and tired of it by now, but I keep pushing myself.
Chemeketa seems like an easy place to apply, I checked it out after you posted one of your treads. Where else would you get same points for A and B- for AP.
I talked to an adviser there, and he said that the problem is that they get huge number of applicants with maximum points. As you know, in-district and higher GPA people win the priority.
Did you write an essay? Do you feel good about it?

I am not in-district in Chemeketa so I am not even hoping to get in there and I also had B in PSY 215. This is my first year applying and I hope I will be ready next year.
Did you have to retake all your Bs? I don't want to retake my classes and I wish there was some otherway to do better. I did not go to any advising, but I think I am planning to visit the schools this summer and see where I need to get better.
