Hello everybody! Long time lurker and first time poster on this site. I was hoping to start a thread to see where everybody is at on their points and etc. Some info about myself I suppose: Applied at PCC, MHCC and CCC, I have experience as a CNA and completed all my pre-req's with 3.9 GPA. Feeling pretty good but not when its compared to 800 other applicants! Thought this would be a good way to see if emails were being sent in the next few weeks and waitlist info. Good luck everyone
I started a thread for those of us going to PCC this fall. https://allnurses.com/oregon-nursing/portland-community-college-1052491.html
I got into OHSU but im really wishing to get into CCC, currently Im on the alternate list and have been invited to the orientation. does anyone know the chances of getting in if you are on the alternate list? Im really hoping that some students that got into other school will reply sooner so that Clackamas can inform the applicants on the alternate list.
to answer the Question above. The way I would choose the school to attend is expense, ease of travel, pass rate, if you know anyone there, where did you take the prerequisites, feedback from those that were in the program.
I got into OHSU but the reason i would rather go to CCC is because I would save 17k on the tuition, travel would also be easier as well as parking. I also know a few students that have gotten into the program, i also completed most of my prerequisites at CCC
I agree with looking at student retention rate as well as NCLEX pass rate. Of course proximity is important, but I also feel that you have to go with your gut up a certain extent. I have always gone to PCC, but was extremely impressed with CCCs interview process as well appreciated the fact that their cohort size is only 30; that seems more intimate to me. That being said, I was only accepted to PCC and I'll take it! I also heard today that PCCs cohort size went down from 80 to 62.

Think of the long-term employment opportunities of an ADN vs BSN versus the upfront cost. Many places will pay additional salary to start with (several dollar an hour difference) which adds up to where over the long term the BSN pays for itself plus some as well as opening management and the like all in one shot.
Something to consider.
