I am 6 months out from graduating...I have to say I am usually a sharp student and critical thinker. Nursing school was not ridiculously hard, I had a study like everyone else but not near the amount of hours, I had a new baby during my RN bridge program and managed to pass everything and stay on schedule with my classes despite having my baby on holiday break (lucky timing).
I have been a nurse for 10 yrs now, between being an LPN and an RN and am now almost done with an FNP program.
I took the APEA predictor as a first assignment for my final 30 week course, and I scored a 65%. I feel sooo defeated.
I'm wondering what anyone's experience is for this? I have a friend who scored a 73 on theirs, but failed their boards. I have been studying Leik, FNP mastery, as well as the Fitzgerald beast book.
Anyone score below the 70% mark but still pass their exam? I am planning to test for the AANP. I definitely have the jitters like most FNP students. This program I have literally poured every waking moment of studying and question taking for the last 2.5 years... HALP!!
I feel your pain! I received the same score. Although we do get to walk this semester, it just sucks that it puts us back 8 weeks from being able to schedule our actual boards. This APEA test does not define us. We have made it this far. congrats on completing your program!!
I'm not sure if that was the previous policy at westcoast but now they are expecting us to take a review class and take the APEA test until passed with a 70% regardless of overall performance in your program. I was told that they do not charge us the review class or the live APEA review. We'll see though.
disheartenednps said:so you have to sit through the APEA review 2 day thing again and do practice questions. they make you upload previous soaps and clinical hours but thats it - again this is for west coast university.
I go to WCU, I am in the repeat course. First predictor: 65, second 68. In this repeat term 69 for first attempt, and I have till Wednesday for the fourth. It is very frustrating given that WCU implemented this last minute.
I already have a non-pass at WCU and the student handbook says 2 non-pass grades is an automatic dismissal from the program. If I cannot pass the predictor exam in this final term does that mean I am dismissed from the program? I got a 56% on the pre predictor exam. The exam was hard and there is no guidance on what to study for remediation.
From what I have been told if you are in the repeat class at WCU you have 2 chances to pass the predictor again. If you do not pass you receive an incomplete in the class and have to choose from one of the school selected board review classes. Once you submit that you completed the board review you pass the class and get your diploma.
I did not pass the APEA exam. The school made us take another review course then take the APEA one more time. Then you get your pass grade and now I am waiting for my diploma by mail. Other student said the Sarah Michelle NP review was the best. I know some of her videos are free on YouTube but the full course is on the website. However, they said it helps pass boards not sure it will help with the APEA exam.
Hello,
I did the Fitzgerald review course. If you don't pass the APEA Exam after multiple attempts they give you a choice between 3 choices of alternative review courses to take in order to get your diploma. Once you show the certificate of completion you take the APEA one more time. You get your diploma regardless of you pass the APEA exam after the review course.
As an educator our school requires a 70 or better on APEA to graduate. This exam is taken over and over until a 70 is made. The students have all completed the review course by the time it is taken. Out of 12 students last year that took, 10 had to retake it, several more than twice. All passed the AANP cert on first write.

I believe scoring in 60s will get you good enough grades to pass the course given that the rest of the points from the rest of the weeks are nearly perfect. The max you can get will be in the 90s on your grades. I've read that if you fail the first and second attempt, If you don't get enough points to be above 83% for the overall grades, the school will let you repeat the course, won't be able to walk at graduation, make you take another live class but this time out of pocket, provide them the proof that you did attend a class, and will pass you and hand over your diploma. Any info regarding the matter?
