Hi all, Just wanted to get a poll, so to speak, to see how many viewers are working on thier MSN. I am seriously considering starting an online MSN program and wanted to get the opinions of others in the process. It's a little overwhelming all the different colleges and universities out there advertising online programs. My goal is MSN in health education... Anyone else working on that too that can give me some insight? Thank you.

I go to St. Louis University online. Mansfield University in Pa has a nurse educator MSN totally online. I also looked at Wheeling Jesuit University and University of Wyoming (low cost). I am going for perinatal nurse educator. Good luck to you.

I have thought about my MSN but the truth is there is little financial incentive for me to pay out the money to complete it. At this time I have 12 credits towards an MSN.
I have a child who graduated from Mansfield. I did look into their program but you start it and finish it and if for some reason you get out of sequence you have to wait a year to get back on track.
UOP has a good program but an MSN in Ed seems very limiting. It seems like going for Adult Health makes you more marketable.
The other option is to get a dual Masters in Ed and HCA.
Thanks for the replies. I did consider the dual masters in Ed and HCA. I didn't want to limit myself and be constrained to working in a certain field. I want to do something that is going to give me several options when I graduate. Has anyone used Pheonix University online? They have the Ed and HCA program. Thanks for the input.
Oh, I didn't realize that UOP was for University of Pheonix. So, what do you think about that program?

I will be starting my MSN program (to be an adult acute/critical care NP) this May. My program is not online though. But my grad school is only 5 miles away from where I live which I love! :)

I'm working on my MSN (nursing education) at Wheeling Jesuit University. It's all on-line. Six credit hours a semester is all I can do with working.
As suni said, (and also in my case) there is no financial incentive to this. I will actually take a loss when I leave the hospital with my MSN in hand. The difference is that I am getting tooooo old to pound the floors and need to have something else waiting in the wings.

I too am working on my MSN. Check out our Graduate Student/MSN/PhD forum. You will find many of us on there.
oldnewnurse, I finished my BSN and am now working as a staff educator. Like you I am getting too old to be on the unit full time but cannot retire. How is the Wheeling program set up and what is the cost?
I considered my MSN but to teach in my state on a university level you need a Phd. So I could do clinical but still think it may get too physical for me.
