I got an email from a recruiter for care manager positions with Senior Bridge in my area. I've looked at their website & I think it's something I may be interested in. It's not home health care per se, it is more interviewing and documentation. The point is to prevent hospital re-admissions.
Just wondering if anyone can share personal experience with this kind of thing. Thanks!
We as care managers are not "HANDS ON" nurses. This is a free benefit for a Medicare advantage member that has Humana and qualifies for the program. We stay LONG after the home health nurse because the transitions members usually turn into Long Term. We make sure they are using all their Humana benefits to full potential and assist with any resources the member needs.
As a Care Manager, I do not have hands on. The HHC nurse does short term visits usually less than 30 days. As a CM, I oversee ALL the HH services and make sure the member is getting all the services they need. It can seem overwhelming to a member until I explain that I am there for the long haul and to see that they get everything they need long term. I hope this helps.
Hi Nurseypoo123:
Do you mind telling us what your agency name is?
I am in Arizona and although I got caught up working for an angency, they are not terribly good to us....would like to switch agencies as having to switch over to a IC with Humana, I have to leave for 6 months - I can't because I have children in daycare fulltime and a whole lot of other expenses and 'situations' set up that I don't want to unravel (daycare is hard to find in our town).
Does anyone have any update on how your job goes? I am applying through an agency as a care manager, but it has been over two weeks already since they last submitted my information to Humana. I call the agency they said they haven't heard back from Humana yet and when I can Humana my name can't be look up. So the question is how long does it takes for Humana to actually process everything in order for me to get my ID and password. I did call Humana directly but they couldn't give me any information as they only deal with Humana associate. At this point, I am uncertain that I am hired because it is based in Humana approval. I don't know. The agency and Humana itself won't help, so I'm reaching out to real nurses. Please reply.
I thought it used to be seniorbridge and Humana bought it. They told me that approval of hire is based on Humana and not them even though I submit all my information and documents. So it has been almost two weeks since they last submit my information to Humana. I guess I have to play the waiting game as of now I'm uncertain if I got hired or not. But it is good to know that it takes 2-3 weeks. Are you still currently working as a care manager for Humana? Do you like it so far? Too me making my own schedule and the flexibility is worth more than money. In the past, I contacted directly through Humana and they said my area doesn't have a provider but somehow the agency has it and that is why I'm working through the agency now. I'm frustrated at being a floor nurse because the lack of support, patient load, and demand. I'm hoping for a change to get this job and hopefully go into hospital case management one day if possible.
I am an Independent contractor, so I didn't have to wait and I joined in 2014. You will LOVE this job. I'm sorry you weren't able to sign on as an Independent contractor. There are many advantages to working for yourself. In any case hopefully the agency that you work for will not make you take a certain amount of Humana members. Some agencies require you to take a full load and others don't. Working as an Independent, you can take one member or 35 members depending on what you want. It is alot to learn at first, but once you learn it...it becomes easy. Have you tried emailing [email protected] to ask your question???? What is the city and state you are in , so I can check to see if you are in a saturated area. Areas that are saturated with nurses are only able to be hired under certain conditions. I'll check your area if you give me your city and state.

I am paid per diem. It is by the member each month. What does Independent pay? The extra for training, mileage, bonuses, retirement Ira....oh and referral bonus if I refer nurses is awesome! (mention me if you apply! hahahaha)
