  1. Hi MrsVic1: I started out in the In Home Care Manager position about 3 years ago thru an agency but already knew about the Independent Contractor (IC) position. This position now has a telephonic nursing component to it, so it may be something you are interested in. I know they have telephonic nurses but I recently spoke to one and they told me that they had dramatically reduced the permanent telephonic staff. The only drawback that has occurred (IMHO) is the reduction in payments. As an IC, it has gone from $300 per client a month for 3 to 4 visits, to $165 a month with 2 visits. Sorry if a lot of this sounds like jargon. In this position you get $80 for making 2 phone calls a month to your members if they are on Telephonic care. It has taken me a very long time (over 6 months) to work up to what I would consider part time from a caseload of 5 members to a caseload of 11 members that I see out in the field. None of my members have warranted movement over to Telephonic care in the 8 months I've been back on board as an Independent Contractor. HTH.
  2. Things have likely changed since Aetna took over but when I started in 2015, it was assumed I was in and they (my agency) was simply waiting for them to have my name in their Rosalind software system to access records. It took a long time....something like 2 - 3 weeks. HTH
  3. I have been a Humana at Home CM for a little over a year. It has become micromanaged since Aetna took over. They expect us to do more work for free - I work through an agency because Humana didn't call me in time. The ONLY pay my agency gives me is the 1st visit is $75 on transitions, then all other visits, regardless of type, is $45. No paid training at any time, all attempts to reach potential members is all my own time and there is lots of follow up and documenting they expect now. I had to pay for things like my TB shot series out of my pocket, NO benefits, mileage is .21 cents a mile, which is ridiculous. Only trouble is, you cannot just leave and take up a position with Humana directly. Their hiring criteria is more strict (yep, no more LPN's and you have to be doing this job for 2 years or greater) and you have to have left your agency for 6 months or more and of course, all those members YOU sold the program to are now gone. The program has greatly changed and mainly not for the better. However, I would still do it with a smile on my face if I were doing with the pay of an independent contractor, which my agency suspects they are giving all the work to because my agencies nurses are sitting around wondering where in the world the referrals have gone to despite having good metrics.
  4. Hi Nurseypoo123: Do you mind telling us what your agency name is? I am in Arizona and although I got caught up working for an angency, they are not terribly good to us....would like to switch agencies as having to switch over to a IC with Humana, I have to leave for 6 months - I can't because I have children in daycare fulltime and a whole lot of other expenses and 'situations' set up that I don't want to unravel (daycare is hard to find in our town).
  5. I work for an agency and make $45 per client and .21 cents a mile but I know that if Humana had responded to my IC requests, I would have been making more. I would like to hear from Humana IC's. Do you get additional pay over the $300 for incidentals? Does the $300 cover everything?

This is their address. I found the ad on Craigslist in my area. I live in a town of about 30,000 and the neighboring town, which is 40 miles away and has another 30,000 people. WIth that, I only get about 15 to 20 cases a year, so that gives you an idea of it. Am I the only Carescout in the area? I think so as every time I show up, the customers tell me they have been waiting MONTHS for an appointment. I am in Arizona. Good luck. CareScout 60 Hickory Drive, 4th Floor Waltham, MA 02451
  7. I am currently working for a staffing agency and get $45 per member. I was told by Humana that in order to become an IC, I had to retire from all staffing agencies and then apply directly to their network after 6 months. I guess I would have to find alternate work for 6 months and then HOPE they would hire me on directly as an IC? Doesn't seem very nice. Does anyone know of any staffing agencies that pay better than $45 per weekly face to face assessment/action plan? Can you take your members with you when you go to another staffing agency?
