What is up with that? I have heard briefly a few times lately, about 20 hour shifts. Isn't that illegal? What is a schedule like when you work a 20 hour shift?

nope never worked a 20 hour shift....that would suck!
I am working some 16 hour shifts in the upcoming weekends. I'm sad because my 4 month old son will be spending his 1st night away from home.

I have worked 18 hours before and do not recommend it, but I was on call. I think that after 16 I was irresponxible to not call in a relief nurse (I didn't want to wake someone up for 2 hours). I will not do this again unless it is a emergency situation(earthquake)

Never heard of 20 hr shifts. This should be illegal. No one can function normally after getting less than 4 hrs of rest. I have heard of some jobs offering 16 hr shifts (actually paying for 40 hr but working 2 days 16 hr shifts), but don't personally know anyone working such long shifts on regular basis.

Only in emergency staffing situations, and that was a 22 hour shift with multiple breaks if possible.....its not illegal (should be) but anything over 23 hours is.......
