If you do a search on American Mobile you will find at least a couple of extensive threads on them. They are not highly thought of by many.

I currently work for American Mobile and they have been ok although after talking to many other travelers - they do not pay very well. I've come to find that the smaller companies pay more to their travelers and the bigger companies tend to hang on to their money. They also have a clause in their contracts that you can not work for another company at the same hospital for one year (as a traveler).

Hello - I worked for American Mobile for a year - I have to say I was never truly happy with them but it can be a pain to change companies - so I stayed - probably a big mistake!!!!! I finally had it with my recruiter and the company and started looking around. There are definitely BETTER companies out there to choose from!!!! Their pay is not even comparable to what I was offered from another company for the SAME contract!!! LOOK AROUND!!!! GOOD LUCK

I am drawing the same conclusion about smaller companies paying more. But the larger companies have more contracts. I have spoken with my recruiter about submitting my resume to where I want to work... They want more contracts so they can make more money. I am finishing a contract with American mobile and will return to my other company for the next job.
Who is your other company and are they good?
Thanks Danielle

I also worked for AMN; 2 long term assignments. Initially they were prompt at returning calls...unitl I signed on. Then, after the first renewal, I became just another number. Low pay, poor customer service. They do not stand behind their nurses. I work for a smaller company with plenty of contracts, a desire to keep their nurses happy and great compensation.

A few years ago when I was in the thinking stage of being a travel nurse American Mobile somehow got my number and called me. Anyway, to make a long story short I talked to them and told them the name of the hospital I was working as a staff nurse. I didn't apply or give them my hospitals phone number but they looked up the number to the hospital I work at spoke to a nurse on my unit about getting a reference for me. I was furious to say the least. It caused a lot of tension in my unit because at the time we were losing a lot of nurses and now my manager thought she was losing another. So, no I would not recommend a company that was that disrespectful. Oh, she also yelled at me when I said I wasn't ready for traveling yet. It could have just been the recruiter but it really turned me off.

I have heard nothing, repeat NOTHING good about American Mobile. I'm working right now with a nurse who stopped traveling because of them, and I talked to several during orientation who had worked for them. Nobody said anything nice about them. I think they're part of the Evil Empire too.

They are notorious about calling hospitals they know usuing lots of travelers. Phone will ring and they will ask to speak to "the traveler" and then try to schmooze them into signing on.

I agree they have assignments where I wanted to go but 5.00 to 7.00 lower pay than others quoted me.
