Hey Everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone on the waiting list for San Diego City College has gotten a letter of acceptance for Fall 2010. I'm in the 100's on the waiting list, so I'm getting pretty close, but since they're accepting 50% from the waiting list and 50% from the point system, it might take me a while longer to get accepted . The admin at the nursing office told me that acceptance letters for those on the waiting list should be sent out towards the end of March, so I was just wondering if anyone has received a letter of acceptance or alternate? If so, what number were you on the waiting list??
Just being curious!

Hey there, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm still waiting for the acceptance letter, as I have been on the wait list for over two years (not quite sure what my current number is). I asked the nursing department, and they also said that the letters would be mailed out in the end of March. Last week was Spring Break, so I'm not sure. Have you gotten a letter yet? I'm going to apply for the points system as well because I just can't stand to wait another year. I'm getting very frustrated!
I haven't gotten a letter and it's April, so I guess I'm not getting one.....DARN! I'm also applying through the points system for Fall 2010, but am not sure how my points will hold up compared to everyone else that applies. How many points do you think you'll have when you apply?
I went to the college today to drop off my application. The woman in admissions said that they are not mailing out acceptance letters from the waitlist until JUNE!!! Can you believe it? I guess they are too backed up. So don't give up hope, I'm not going to.
I turned in my application in today, too, and asked her the same question. how weird! Anyways, good luck!
Did she say it wouldn't be until June too? I wonder why we have to wait so long! I feel like I've been waiting for ever!!!! I don't think my points will be that high. I aced my science classes and scored well on the TEAS, but I'm missing two classes from general ED, so I won't get any points for that!! ( i wish I had known a little sooner) I also don't have a degree, CNA certification, or speak a foreign language. I guess we'll just see. I hope I can just get a chance from the waitlist. Good luck to you, I hope you get in some way.

I received an email today from Deb Berg saying that I was chosen as an alternate (don't know whether to be or ) and that I need to attend orientation on either June, 22nd or June, 25th. I don't think they're mailing out letters. Hopefully you've gotten an email today. I'm way down on the wait list, so I decided to compete academically. I think I had 76 pts.
Does anyone know what the chances are for me to get in as an alternate?
Im sooo happy for you. I didn't get an email. Feel like Im never getting in! What is your waitlist number? I hope you get a chance. If I get in next year, it will be FOUR years on the waitlist!!!! Not fair!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I hope they give me a chance too. I agree this whole process if very frustrating . I'm still going to drop off the new application for Grossmont tomorrow just in case. Last I checked I was #800 and something on City's list! There's no way I'll ever get in off the waitlist. I was one of the last ones added before they changed the system. Same with Grossmont.
I feel for you four years is just wrong! Have you thought of trying Riverside? If City and Grossmont don't work out, I'm trying Riverside. I'll move up there for two years and get it over with. They don't have a waitlist and they are taking applications in Sept-Oct for Spring '11 and Fall '11
Best of luck to you and everyone else on here.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, since I wasn't on the waiting list, but I applied to the point system. I received a letter on Feb 28th--originally they told me not to expect anything until May, so I was surprised to receive something much sooner. So maybe if they tell you June, you could receive news much sooner. I know that accepted applicants needed to respond by Mar. 23rd as to whether or not they would accept and attend the orientation, so I imagine after this date, they will go through the list of alternates to fill the remaining slots that weren't taken. The actual orientation is at the end of May, so they will probably need to fill slots of students that no-show or back out at the last minute. So maybe there are two opportunities to be accepted as an alternate/wait listed student. Hopefully, this is helpful news for those of you waiting to find out.
They didn't tell me how many points I had, but based on my own estimates, I think I was somewhere around 81 and got in. Not sure what the range was, but if you have at least that many points, you probably have a good chance of getting accepted. Good luck!

4 year wait lists! geez.... That is exactly why I said screw that, and go for my 1 year LPN program (I start tomorrow) First!.. then bridge to the RN program. i cannot afford to wait a year, let alone 4! So all in all it should take me 1 and a half years to be RN after I complete my lpn program next March.
Thanks for the reply. That makes me feel really depressed! I'm happy for you. Maybe I'll still get a chance.
Hopefully, they send out letters to people on the waitlist later!!!!! Good Luck in school!
