I posted this thread in another forum, and then I realized that I would probably get a better response if I posted this in the "students" forum.....
I will be starting nursing school in about a month, so I recently purchased a laptop that came with Microsoft OneNote. I'm curious if any of you nursing students, or former nursing students are using or have used that program. Did you find it helpful? How did you utilize it? The gentleman who sold me the laptop had just graduated college and told me that he used it religiously during school...not in nursing though. Any insight, comments, suggestions?
Are you using a trial of OneNote Melissa? It definitely sounds like OneNote's printer driver isn't installed.
No, Microsoft Student (including OneNote) came with my laptop when I purchased it in November. It says on the OneNote box that "Send to OneNote 2007 print driver not available on a 64 bit operating system". I hate not to be able to use the powerpoint with it, although I am using Vista. I just don't know how to fix it.

Install a generic printer driver, and then configure it for Microsoft Office OneNote 2007
Windows Vista
[*]Configure the generic printer for OneNote. To do this, follow these steps:

- if you receive the following message, click to select the use the driver that is currently installed (recommended) option, and then click next: which version of the driver do you want to use?

awesome tech support.....lol!
:yeah:
:yeah:
I finally got it to work!!!!! Thanks CuriousMe!!!!
Part of it was that I have never used OneNote and so I didn't really have a clue what I was looking at when I opened it up. I kept inserting the files, not seeing anything. I didn't realize that it was "inserting" the powerpoint as a page on the right hand side. LOL Good thing I'm not a computer tech....I'd be fired.
This is going to be AWESOME to use during nursing school. I am so excited. I wish they would post stuff at our school so that I can go ahead and set up my notebooks and tabs. We are such nerds. LOL :typing
hey curiousme,
re: Click the Ports tab, and then click to select the Send To Microsoft OneNote Port check box.
i got all the way to part2 step2 of your instructions to get vista to print to onenonote, and there is no 'sent to microsoft onenote port' option. is this because of the 64 bit problem? i have rerouted it before using different instructions, but it prints each powerpoint page onto a separate page (which sucks for 100+ page powerpoints we often have to download)... any suggestions?
by the way, i didnt have my tablet pc with onenote in lvn school, but have since used it in all of my prereqs and love it! i usually need 6+ notebooks for math and i didnt need any paper at all! it was awesome for micro, especially powerpoints and the snipping tool for google images! i am def going to use it for rn school!
HopeForMelissa

Have you tried to "print" powerpoint lectures directly to OneNote? Have you had any problems with that? Mine has the option greyed out when I try it.
