Anyone using the Marieb textbook for A&P

Hello I was wondering if anyone is using the Elaine Marieb book: Human Anatomy & Physiology for class? My first day of class was today and I bought the book at the bookstore for $175, but when I got home I checked out ebay and bought one for $117, so now I dont want to open the book I got from the bookstore. Ok to my question: Can someone tell me what chapter 1 is called or something about chp 1. I already have a different A&P book and would like to read chp1 out of it- if it is the same info- while waiting for the class required book to come. Does this post make sense?

Hi Amber,

I have the 6th edition of the Marieb book and it's called "The Human Body: An Orientation". It gives an overview of A&P; talks about homeostasis and also discusses the language of anatomy.

Oh thanks so much. My other A&P book(Holes) is "Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology" so those sound close. I would think that most A&P books talk about the same things so I hope I can make it through my first quiz with a different textbook. My required text should be coming next week.

My class is using the 8th edition-- The Essentials of A & P. It was used for like $85 at my bookstore. :) Good luck in your classes!

I used this book for A&P 1 and 2. Very detailed I must say. :)

I'm using the 5th edition. Got it for $40 off amazon. Whoo! I think chapter 1 is essentially the same in all the editions. My friend/classmate is using the 3rd edition and our chapter 1 is the same.

Oh yeah! Details upon details!!! I wished we had used another text at the time, but I'm glad to have that book now. It's a great reference! Whatever you do, don't sell your book back when the class is over!
