Just wondering, has anyone been using the new ChromeBook to do any of their work for WGU? I'm thinking about getting one and just wondering if it would work... Thanks ?

You can export documents, you can't create Word documents on chromebook. To do your assignments you need a PC or latop with Windows or and Apple to create Microsoft office documents.

I've been told that you have to use their webcam that they send you. Something about security and positioning they want a certain angle when you're doing the test and their webcam is on a stand.
Hey I got good news, you can! In Google docs you can click create and select "Document". After you create your document if you need it in Microsoft word format go to File>Download as> Microsoft Word (.docx).

Yay! :) :) :)
That's great!!!!
Hopefully they will start making it more user friendly for regular use.
So far everything has worked with my chromebook but I've had one quirk while looking at the courses.
when I look at a course I don't have the blue bar with navigation buttons on the bottom but if I make the window full screen (press F11) and then go back to regular view (press F11 again) the buttons magically appear.
Ok so just wanted to give an update about how Chromebook is working with WGU stuff.
1) biggest bug I've found so far is that when you go to a course the "footer" bar at the bottom doesn't show up unless you go to fullscreen (press F11) and then go back to regular windowed view (press F11 again). After you do that it works fine from what I can tell.
2) The online version of vital source works fine.
3) Student Communities work fine
4) My degree plan works fine and you can drag and drop your classes around without issue.
5) Webinars with Adobe Connect work fine
Things I still need to test:
1) Offline use of Vital Source books
2) Whether or not the WGU issued webcam will work.
3) Taskstream
4)My.WGU messenger
Also want to add.
Working:
Federated searching
Individual database searchign
Ebrary
Ask a Librarian
Lynda.com
E-Reserves
Working with minor work around:
Books24/7 - to get this to work you have to manually add "WGU.edu" to your list of websites that can send you pop-ups.

Bruce Wayne----were you ever able to download version of Vitalsource App for your Chromebook? I have a chromebook I love it, but am frustrated that the version I have states is supported but their tech dept say's it is not!! Anyone else with this problem?
I just use the website version. I don't recall the exact instructions because none of my classes have utilized vitasource yet so I kind of forgot how to do it.
I contacted both Google Chrome IT dept and the IT dept @ Elsiever....It is not a supported format yet to download books onto via vitalsouce, so I just use the online version each day at school on my nifty light chrome book and at home on my desk top and laptop I have them actually downloaded.
