Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.

Updated:

OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!

SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:

OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:

1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.

2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.

3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves

4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate

5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.

Oh, ohh, one more...

? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone

OK your turn....

a nurse enters a room wear gowns, gloves, mask , should care which of the following patient ?

1, toxic shock syndrom

2, rubella

3, RSV

This question i had different opion with my friend , what is your answer , and reason , please !

Thanks a lot !

hi mikhy, is it rubella? if i remember it right, in RSV you don't need a mask. thanks and let us know what the right answer is! :wink2:

^ I think its rubella too.

Is Ipecac syrup still administered for substances that are not caustic? Karch says its not anymore, while Saunders still says administer Ipecac.

we are definitely in the same boat, I went in feeling very confident and went out in total shock, I was mad after the test I felt shafted to recieve a test like that, they say the questions start out easy and work their way up the difficulty level, mine started hard and ended hard, and not that hard bothers me, it was just the style of the questions

Same here. These questions about meds that we did not even talk about in the nursing school were horrible. There is no way to know the side effect of meds that you dont even know. I was on this web site daily , studied super hard, finished Saunders, Mark Klimek book , some of LIppnicot, Kaplan, but I did not have the chance to show what I actually konw. I had two simple math questions, some COPD, some delegations and the rest was meds. I am upset. Tomorrow I think I will be able to see if I passed or not because Ohio is on that Quick Results. I really don't know if I want to know or not.:crying2:

normal function of liver abnormal function

stores glycogen ---- hypoglycemia

synthesis of protein ---- hypoproteinemia

synthesis globulines ---- decrease antibody formtion

synthesis clothing formation ---- bleeding

secretion of bile ---- jaundice and pruritus

convert amonia to urea ---- hyperamonia

stores vit and mineral ---- defficiency of vit and mineral

metabolize estrogen ---- gynecomastia, testes atrophy

this occurs in livear cirrhosis (1)...

(2) portal hpn - occurs if theres an obstruction to the portal veins that leads to increase pressure... and if theres pressure results to venous congestion of hepatic capiliaries. there will have a leak direct to liver and leads to accumolation of fluid in peritoneal thats explains (3)ascites

- because of obstruction, the bile is force to go with the blood that explains

(4) the jaundice and pruritus, and collateral portal blood flow through vessels in the stomach and esophagus leads to esophageal varices (5)

hi mikhy, is it rubella? if i remember it right, in rsv you don't need a mask. thanks and let us know what the right answer is! :wink2:

hi , thanks for your respond !

this question , i have different opion with my friend , between answer 1and 2 ,my opion : answer 1, toxic shock syndrome ----standard precaution ( should wear gown , gloves , mask ), answer 2, rubella ----droplet precaution ( should wear mask only ) , so the answer ahould be option 1 ,

the correct answer is option 2,

is there anyone can explain why ? thanks a lot !

god bless all !
