Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc. Nursing Students NCLEX Article

Updated:

OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!

SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:

OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:

1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.

2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.

3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves

4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate

5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.

Oh, ohh, one more...

? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone

OK your turn....

I THINK THAT SHOULD BE :

TOTOL fluid :1000ML+30ML kcl

KCL: 1.25ML/H,SO 30ML KCL NEED 24HOURS

1030/24=42.9(43drops)/min

I finished doing ALL the questions on my Mosby CD and just wondering how you guys are studying for the NCLEX. my exam is coming up soon and besides the pharm that I need to go over, I still feel like I don't know anything. so I thought I'd go back on doing the content.any suggestions....please help...I'm getting anxious yldhdbng

Hey lasko, try Kaplan's NCLEX review book;(not the course) , just the book it comes as a blue paper-back book with yellow writing. Study study study oh yeah did I say study delegation that is a big component of the NCLEX, all about safety, prioritization, and delegation. And by the way you WILL feel like you don't know anything going into the NCLEX.... if you didn't feel that way I would wonder:confused: I came out of the pearson testing center feeling as though my world had came to a end. I must have known something because I had 75 questions and was finished in two hours. I don't know about other methods, but I can only tell you what worked for me;go to the pearson website, I think it's pearsonvue.com, they give you good advice about not what to see on the test, but what to expect before, during, and after the exam. It helped me by taking away some of the "not knowing what to expect" feeling, well I hope it helps, it worked for me

About Scoring

Apgar measures HR,RR,Muscle tone, Reflexes,Skin color

each 0-2 point. 8-10 OK. 0-3 RESUSCITATE.

GLASGOW COMA SCALE. EYES, VERBAL,MOTOR!

It is similar to measuring dating skills...max 15 points -one can do it;)

if below 8 you are in Coma.

So, to start dating you gotta open your EYES first, if you albe to do

that spontaneously and use them correctly to SEE whom you dating you earn 4. But if she has to scream on you to make you

open them it is only 3....and 1 you dont care to open even if she tries to hurt you.

if you get good EYE contact (4 points) then move to VERBAL.

talk to her/ him! if you can do that You are really ORIENTED in

situation she/he uncontiously gives you 4 points! if you like her try not to be CONFUSED (3), and of cause do not use

INAPPROPRIATE WORDS (3), she will not like it)), try not to RESPOND WITH INCOMPREHENSIBLE SOUNDS (2), if you do not like her-

just show no VERBAL RESPONSE(1)

Since you've got EYE and VERBAL contact you can MOVE now using your Motor Response Points.

THis is VERY important since Good moves give you 6!
