I took it there about 7 years ago. The course work was easy and not too time consuming. I hardly remember what the class consisted of except to learn each vitamin component is and what it does. You also have to do a food diary and plan a nutritious meal plan of a week or more that meets all your bodily requirements for calories, etc. I enjoyed the class.

I'm taking it right now, without the lab. It's not required for my degree plan. I like it. it's slow(16 week, i think?) but, i'm learning alot. I'm going to be taking my final , in Fon 241, during micro and A&P II. Did you have any questions? i haven't taken any exam's yet. There tons of essays, quiz, and case studies. I totally find the information useful for nursing school.

How much time are you spending on this class per week, and how do you like your instructor?

she's cool right now:icon_roll. she seems to really like my essays. i don't spend much time doing them. and there isn't really a lot of websites that can help you out. that what's i don't like. any hoot, it's cool. i really worried about the mid term because the quizzes are kinda hard. it just doesn't jump out at you. i got a 28/30. i spend my saturday doing all of the homework, while doing cleaning around the house. i read the essay and then think about it. i can send you a pm of an example of an essay if you want.

That would be great, also could you pm me the name of your instructor?

Thanks again for all your help!!

I am taking Rio's Nutrition 241 right now and am also beginning to worry about the midterm as the quizzes are a bit challenging. Also, we are supposed to prepare about 25 possible essays. Any help as to how to best study would be greatly appreciated. I'm beginning to think that I've spent too much time on my other classes and not enough on this one! TIA. I am new to this and I appreciate everyone's patience as I figure it all out!

You have every right to be worried . I don't think there is anything that can prepare you for the Midterm. Study the chapters and the end review, have some understanding about each essay, she will ask you essay that she might have asked you in turn in for homework . The questions on the quiz are just as hard as the test. I barely made it with a C. I really thought it was going to be easy. i was sitting at a 92 until i took the midterm. I fell all the way down to a 77. I pass the class learned a lot but, the midterm and final hurt me bad. Remember you would need to get a 60% on the midterm and the final, to pass the class. regardless if you did good on the home work and quiz. If i can help please let me know.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm definitely going to reread the essays I had to turn in. Do you think it's worth also preparing for the other possible 20 or so? I'm actually a little shocked at how difficult this seems to be. I have a 97 right now but I'm afraid the midterm and final are going to hurt me significantly, and I have to get at least a B in the class. I'm wondering if I should just drop the class altogether before the midterm? I hate to give up but it seems like one of those classes I should have taken in a classroom setting. I know that I never could have gotten through my chem if I'd taken it online.

To be honest, I hated that class. If i were to take it over again it would be with another school. The test were so hard. I barely made it. I got pretty good grades in A&P , Micro, Patho, and Chem:eek:. This was my lowest grade overall. I didn't do well on the Mid :sniff:so i wanted to drop. But, after the mid i couldn't. I finished it up but, i was so sad after wards:o. If you look into the threads, another girl got a 92 on her mid or final. Just study word for word, and apply it. I wouldn't recommned this class to my worst enemy. But, some people do better than others. At first i took it lightly, but after the midterm, i focuse only on that class still didn't do as well:crying2:. I duno!!

I'm wondering if the people who have done well have had a different professor than ours? Rio Salado started me on the wrong date initially but I did see the syllabus for another professor and the midterm/final were at least open-book. I have no problem working hard but it just seems ridiculous. I got through four years of college with all A's and B's so I will be very disappointed if I get anything less than a B (and the school I'm applying to will not accept anything lower on prereqs). I'm so torn about whether or not I should drop it. I don't want all of the time I've invested to be a waste but I honestly don't feel confident in my ability to do well on the midterm/final-especially when I've found the open-book quizzes to be a challenge! Ugh!

Going to school online is no joke. Rio really makes you work hard for the grades thats for sure. I found that their style of questions on the midterm and finals really prepared me for the type of questions in Nursing School. Although I think I am DONE taking ANY type of science class via RIO!
