I'm trying to figure out if a review course(kaplan, hurst, sylvia rayfield, etc) really makes a big difference or increases my chances of passing the boards.
I have been using alot of review CDs and Saunders comp review book, Kaplan 2007 (180 questions). I plan on taking the NCSBN 3wk online closer to my test date, since its not too expensive.
Anyone passed w/o attending a review course or took a review course which really did it for them? What did the courses really do?

Great question. I too would like to know and kinda take a poll. I am taking Kaplan now but I don't know if I like it.

I graduated in April and took NCLEX on May 30th. I wanted to do Kaplan but was severely broke. I used the Saunders Comp Review and passed with about 200 questions. That's just me though. Another classmate who skipped it passed with 80 questions.
The people I know who took gave mixed reviews some thought it was pointless some thought it helped but none of them have taken NCLEX yet.

I didn't take a NCLEX review course. Graduated on the 12th of May went on vacation then boards on the 30th. I passed with 136 questions. I know my way doesn't work for everyone but the ability to "test" the way NCLEX wants you to is over half the battle. Learn the testing method and the rest of your knowledge will lead you through the test. Good Luck to all those who are waiting to test.

I didn't take a NCLEX review and passed on the first try with 75 questions. I came here to get the tips from other test takers, did tons of practice questions in my NCLEX review books, and that's it. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on any of those expensive test reviews.

I did not take a review class either...I graduated on May 12th...got my ATT on Wed the 30th and took my NCLEX Fri. June 1st. I passed with 90 questions. I am not sure a review would have helped me much. I did Suzanne's plan with the Saunders book and I looked at stradegies that I got out of a Kaplan book..that I bought at a half price book store for 9 bucks! Good Luck
