I am currently taking Microbiology and A & P II (along with Pathophysiology). I highly recommend NOT taking those classes together unless absolutely necessary, and as you said you are not even required to take Micro, I would wait to take it. It is not impossible, and of course it depends on the professors you have, but I am barely keeping my head above water with the three classes I am in now. Why put yourself under more stress and pressure than you have to?
That's what I'm doing now and it takes a lot of work, and sometimes a beer. Depends on what kind of student you are, it's not impossible but it's not going to be a walk through Cupcake Town. I agree with the above poster, if it's not needed, don't torture yourself with that. If you HAVE to take another class for full time status try something a little easier like First Aid or Human Nutrition or something.
IMO, Micro is the hardest class I've EVER taken!! Even Chem didn't leave me feeling like as much of a moron as micro. I had a great instructor that was very willing to help and I managed an A but I worked my little booty off for that A. I took A&P 2 the same semester and I have always assumed that the reason micro was so hard for me was because I was not able to spend enough time really digging deep into the lit for micro. I would not recommend it if you don't have to take it for your program.
If binary fission is that interesting to you take it in a semester that you are taking some less heady classes than A&P 2 especially is A&P is required for your program.:wink2:
I'm also taking both now. I love it. Both classes are amazingly interesting to me and I have EXCELLENT teachers. I'm also taking Dev. Psychology with theses classes (which is a cake-walk class), so I have a lot of time to focus on these two. I also have an excellent tutor that I have for Micro who helps me out tremendously. I'm making an A in A&P II currently and a high B in Micro, but it will be an A before the semester is up. Do whatever you have to do to ensure that you know the information down pack! I put Micro on the back burner for a minute and know since I really don't have to focus on A&P as much I can put Micro as a priority. IT IS DOABLE!!! I've seen many people on here who can attest to it, and to some it is suicide to others it is a true test and challenge. IT IS NOTHIN COMPARED TO NURSING SCHOOL, so I take the challenge greatly, might as well start practicing now. Yet, in your situation you don't have to take it, but it is a truly BENEFICIAL class that WILL help you in nursing, I would think especially in Patho. I say go for it. I don't look at it as stressing yourself, I look at is as broadening your knowledge! Good luck!
I took Micro and A & P II together and I loved loved Micro! I miss the class already and my class load I had was "high" I was taking those 2 class and calculus managed to get a 4.0. I would just make sure you had enough hours plus dedicated to a 5 credit class (which is what it was for me) or 4 credit class plus. GOODLUCK! It is definitely doable!
ANP2 at my school is Advanced Physiology. We have ANP 101, ANP 102, then ANP201.
I am taking 201 with Microbiology this semester. It's a huge workload and if I had a choice, I wouldn't do them together again.
It's possible, but very time consuming and you have to be very disciplined to stay afloat. 4 weeks left till this semester is over and I can't wait! LOL

I'm considering taking Microbiology simply because I need to go full time for next fall semester, but full time is 12 or more credits. So I am considering taking Microbiology, though it's not needed to get in to my preferred school, and A&P 2. Anyone ever do this? Is it too hard to do together?
