Recent Registered Nurse Graduate Pay in VA
Yes. From what they have all told us, if after graduation we want to go on to get our Masters, they said it would all carry over to ODU's program. I'm not sure about other schools. But I know that in the information session they specifically talked about ODU.

Recent Registered Nurse Graduate Pay in VA
I currently am in Sentara's new BSN program and I love it. We have class days on M and Th, and clinical days on T and Th. Clinicals start right away from the first semester. At first they are from 7-12 then in the 2nd semester they are from 7-2:30. The one advantage I've seen is that students from other schools do not have their own access to the e-care which is Sentara's computerised system for health records. We however, all have access from the first day to our pt info. Which proves rather helpful when having to do our concept maps and when coming up with our nursing diagnoses. Also, the price can't be beat for a bachelor's degree. I can't speak for other programs, but I am loving this one. I am almost completely sure that next May when I graduate, I will be saying the same thing. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions about the program if you have any.

Which pt is priority?
Thank you soooo much for your input. I had such a bad week last week and I just started this rotation with a new teacher and last week I was like a fish out of water trying to figure her out, I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track this week. I really really appreciate you giving me your opinion!

Which pt is priority?
OK well when I looked in the computer, the cath lab reported that they had finished and that report was to follow but nothing had been entered by the time I left, so things might be different tomorrow am when I go back. Pt A's labs were rbc 2.59 hgb 7.5 htc 22.7 and plts and iron level of 16 and vitamin D of 7.2. 66 vitals were T 98.6 P. 100, R 18 BP 159/81 and O2 100 Pt B's labs were rbc 3.53 hgb 10.6 htc 31.7 and normal plts of 209 vitals T. 98.6 P 65 R 16 BP 144/62 O2 96 Neither pt has any abnormal electrolyte levels.

Which pt is priority?
aaagghhh!! I know I know...I can hear my teacher too...anything heart related is priority...and at first I was going to go with pt B, but upon looking at labs and because no other info for pt B was available yet, I went with A. But I just have this gut feeling that she will tell me it is B. I am really struggling with prioritizing my pts. I really hope I get the hang of it soon. Sometimes it really makes me feel retarded that I didn't she what she wanted me too. I just keep telling myself it comes with practice and learning more and more...Thanks for your input!

Which pt is priority?
OK...so tomorrow I have two pts. Pt A readmitted after being d/c for abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pt's rbc, hgb, htc, plt and iron are all VERY low, pt dx with enteritis/colitis and thrombocytopenia and anemia. Pt B admitted with chest pain. Pts rbc, hbg, and htc are low but not as bad as pt a. Pt has had not further chest pain since admission and was sent to cath lab, results not back yet. I chose pt A as my priority pt simply because of the bleeding risk with the thrombocytopenia, the n/v and diarrhea put the pt at risk for dehydration and because with the low h & h the ineffective tissue perfusion....am I wrong? Any input would be great!

Any Sentara 2011 program hopefuls?
I'm in the class that just started in August! I can't believe the first semester is almost over. Trust me, as long as you do well in the 6 online classes and pass your CNA test, you should get in. They want to accept people. They want everyone who gets into succeed. They are all really friendly and easy to talk to.

Frustrated....
Thanks everyone for being encouraging. My hubby comes home "sometime" in the next 2 months and will be home for a while after that. I can't afford to quit work, but my job isn't all that secure and with the economy the way it is, I have to get my prereqs done so that I can start the Jan 09 program. My boys go to a home daycare during the day. I try to spend from 5 to about 8:30 with them. We play and play and of course eat and bathe and then bedtime at 8:30. I think ya'll are right I just need some down time. I think I will take the night and have a movie night and then take the next day off. I feel a cough coming on right now! :) AAGGGHHH....Ok...now I feel SO much better! Really thanks everyone. It's good to know other people are stressed. And I'm not alone!

Is Sentara offering a degree program?
I was recently told my a girl in my Soc class that they were trying to go to a bachelors program. So I called them and the girl kinda laughed. She said that they have applied for it and that they should know something before fall. But that it probably won't start until Aug 09 or Jan 2010. She said to keep going to Sentara's website for updated info.

Frustrated....
I just need to vent a little bit. I'm 25 yo with 2 boys age 2 and 1. My hubby is in the Navy and currently in Iraq. I'm taking 12 credits online for this summer and I work full time. I had been doing really well. I was studying and getting my school work done while getting my kid time in. But lately I am losing focus. I am having a hard time getting them to bed. Then they scream for hours. Then I stay up well after 1 am and still have to get up at 5:30. I feel like I am losing my mind!! How does everyone else deal with this? I feel like I'm a failure!!

Anyone take Microbiology and A&P 2 same semester?
Thanks everyone! I'm kinda new at this going back to school thing. I'm actually going for a diploma program but you need 18 prereqs first. But I thought maybe Micro would come in handy...maybe I'll take something easy like spanish or something! :)

Anyone take Microbiology and A&P 2 same semester?
I'm considering taking Microbiology simply because I need to go full time for next fall semester, but full time is 12 or more credits. So I am considering taking Microbiology, though it's not needed to get in to my preferred school, and A&P 2. Anyone ever do this? Is it too hard to do together?
