Hi I would like to ask anyone from here if you know of or you are personally one of the few who have succeeded in getting a CA LVN license after studying in the Philippines. You may have applied directly at CA or may have diverted first in WV before the reciprocity process. Please enlighten us.

A lot of filipino BSN grad from Philippines I know didn't pass the board here. I don't know about LVN maybe u can challenge it. The next challenge you'll have is getting a job. I attended the recent NEWS WEEK LA career fair in LA convention center and It is sad that they advertise for new GRADS LVN and RN to attend the JOB FAIR but it is DEPRESSING just to be there. VENDORS don't even talk to u if ur not an RN and to be an lvn and New grad?? They all require 1 year paid experience as lvn. So u just waste ur parking fee and gas money. Until now, I'm still applying for an LVN job as newly grad but nobody would give me a chance.

hi...i studied nursing in the Philippines but wasn't able to finish it because i had to move in the US. i only had 1 sem to go before i finish the program. i sent all my requirements to the board and they made me eligible to take the nclex for LVN. so m reviewing right now...and hopefully i'll pass. :)

HI, my situation is the same as your. I'm also a BSN student in the philippines and I only need 1 sem to finish it but we had to move in US. Can I know what will I need or who will I contact to take the Exam for LVN? What are the requirements and To whom I still need to send it to.

Just look at the state board of nursing and see what requirements they have for LPN/LVN

Hello to you all and to you my friend, manzanillajr,

This is just an answer to your questions quoted above. YES!! there is one who succeeded to get a license here in CA after studying in the Philippines for Practical Nursing course for 2 years and that is ME!! and maybe more but don't want to say anything here. I passed my NCLEX-PN November last year. took it in Manila. Now i am working in CA as an LVN in one of the best SNF in cali and got my hard license and my name on the BVNPT website. Its been a long journey, but rewarding and if i tell you one by one it make take us a long time to write it down here. But to make it short, YES it is possible!!:nurse: you just need to believed in yourself that you can make it happen and I did. I studied with one of my teacher in PI and he gets me tru, all the way to when i have to take my NCLEX. I am very thankful. I considered it a blessings from GOD. ....:):) Good luck to you!!...It will happen only if you make it happen!!

Hi! I also had my bsn degree in the Philippines. I just arrived here in california after passing the local exam there. Like others I just want to ask, what are the requirements for nclex-pn? i looked on there website, but im not sure what method to follow. Hope you can help us. Thanks!

Hi.

I just moved here in San Diego, CA last March 7. Well, I already graduated BSN back in the Philippines and passed the June-July Board Exams. While waiting for my petition to kick in, I got myself employed in numerous non-nursing related jobs. Upon getting here, the first things I did were applying for a student drivers' permit, SS number, and sending my application and requirements to CA's BRN for NCLEX. Right now, I am waiting for their verdict. It seems we Filipinos tend to get rejected because of the nonconcurrency issue, requiring us to undergo schooling again. So the best option I have as of the moment (while waiting if I get rejected or not) is to be either a CNA or LVN.

Anyone here who can give me a hand? Tips and advises will do. Thank you very much.:)

I graduated BSN way back 2009,unfortunately CA BRN wants me to take OB and MS again. So I've decided to apply and take the NCLEX-PN.I applied march of 2012,got my eligibility in September of the same year and passed my exam December 26.Right now I'm working in a SNF here in San Francisco.

Wow! Congratulations dragon_lady! I guess I want to be a LVN too, then while working, I'll study if they tell me to study MS and OB again, plus the cases to comply with their standards before I can take the NCLEX-RN. In what method did you apply? According here: BVNPT - Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), there are 4 methods.

Thank you.As for the methods, you'll apply under equivalency of nursing education.

Yes,taking the LVN is the best option if you want to stay here in California.Good luck:))
